I've had a few people privately concede that they know that repeat COVID infections are harmful but they try not to think about it because it's too overwhelming.
I think a decent amount of people understand this but they are stuck.
@CovidSolidarit1 My colleagues have chosen to not read the scientific literature on SARS-CoV-2. They get their info from the mainstream media. Add in denial and most physicians are ignorant.
The smell of freshly cut grass is a chemical distress signal.
The plant is damaged and releasing volatile compounds.
You smell a beautiful summer afternoon.
The grass is having a terrible day.
Every dog lover should get to experience this…
🐕 Every morning at 6am I get to feed 80 street dogs.
🥘 We actually cook food for 1300 street dogs daily.
It looks like the highlight of their day but it also the best part of my day ❤️
This is Doug. He waits patiently all day for his partner to fall asleep. Now it's burrow time.
Nose under arm for maximum warmth. Would never sleep alone again.
Lockdowns did impact mental health.
People got a taste of life off the hamster wheel. More family/friends, freedom, time, slower pace, kids weren't being bullied at school, people WFH with their pets.
Suicide rates dropped.
But then everyone was forced back to the grind.
The older I get, the more I realize that the most successful people have one thing in common: They never break character. Life is a game. We're all playing a character. The smart ones choose a character that plays to their strengths. And then commit to it, no matter what. They go all method on it. Shit happens. They get tested. They face rejection, failure, chaos. Fucking hell breaks loose. But they don't budge. They never abandon who they've decided to be. That's how they win.
#LivingWithCovid means living among drivers, pilots, surgeons with progressive brain damages. And children.
We’ve known about it for six years.
If you have no imagination I can help you: It’s like a leap into the abyss. There is no turning back once we realize what we’ve done.
I’m always taken aback by people calling the COVID-conscious “doomers,” as though we’re predicting some hypothetical catastrophe rather than witnessing one already unfolding.
Some forms of impending doom may be real, but they remain abstract until they occur. Hundreds of millions of people have already experienced Long Covid, however.
There’s nothing hypothetical about COVID consciousness. It’s an acknowledgment of reality.
People who are highly aware become unsociable. Crowds drain them. Noise overwhelms them. Small talk feels like work. They chill different. A cozy room. Two people they trust. Good food. Music. Conversations that actually mean something. That’s where they feel alive. Depth over noise. Because for them... peace feels like home.
If you’re still masking… thank you!
It may feel lonely but you’re not alone
Many of us are still wearing masks and trying to break chains of transmission
As the world falls apart…protecting your health and the health of others is paramount
It’s resistance & community care.
"The thing about long Covid is: nobody thinks it will happen to them until it happens to them, even though it's happened to millions of people ... So I guess what I'm wondering is, what you have you read that makes you so confident it won't happen to you?"
There will always be a reason why you meet certain people. Some come into your life to change you, to teach you something, to open your eyes, or to show you a version of yourself you had never seen before. Others come because you’re meant to change something in them, even if you never realize the impact you had. Not every connection is meant to last forever. Some people are simply chapters written to leave a lasting mark.
We let kids get repeatedly infected with Covid, wrecking their immune system and then we act like it's some kind of mystery they are getting Flu A so early and often!
