I remember someone marveling about how Jonathan Edwards spent 13 hours a day in his study. I’ve never been comfortable with that as a model.
Sadly, Edwards was only able to spend countless hours working in his study because others spent countless hours working in his fields.
My take on the airplane seat discourse:
The airlines should book responsibly and seat parents with their young children for free instead of passing that on to another passenger who is not traveling with kids.
Get mad at the airline’s greed.
Has anybody noticed that Oppenheimer is low key dark and edgy af while Barbie is lighthearted and fun, making for a playful dichotomy at the box offices
Something I learned after my mom died to soon (of early onset alzheimer’s):
When it comes to getting footage of your family on video as a parent, it’s *way* more important to record YOURSELF than to record your kids.
Here’s why:

@sewistwrites Yes!! Same.
Also, until I was 16, we lived less than two miles from my grandparents, and my granny watched us or helped with laundry all the time. If it wasn’t for that, I truly don’t think my mom could have done it, even with the “responsible” older kids.
Astronaut Scott Kelly once smuggled a full gorilla suit aboard the International Space Station. He didn't tell anyone about it. One day, without anyone knowing, he put it on.

There’s a colourful old Swedish idiom that goes hjulet snurrar men hamstern är död. It means “the wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead”
@the_caden_ YES. My daughter was in the NICU last summer, and I had a couple people who refused to just… read the Facebook update. I had to text them, separately 🙄🙄🙄 NOT HELPFUL. Finally I just directed them to my Facebook every time they texted.
@LShalott Correct 😂 (although I do love TV 🙈) I didn’t do books because I couldn’t give them up, but neither do I want to be a sweaty hot mess forever.
@dying2live4Him@JcScharl It is the whole reason I started reading again after having kids 😭 I lost that part of myself for a couple years, and it was so good to get it back.
Guys, this isn’t just about infantilizing women. Husbands, you don’t have to live on a pedestal. You don’t have to micromanage your home. You don’t have to be the Savior. You are allowed to see your wife as a helper, and not feel guilty about needing help. The world is not on your shoulders. You’re allowed grace too.
