Like some other arthropods, Horseshoe Crabs glow under ultraviolet light due to the chemicals found in the hyaline layer of their exoskeleton.

Younger horseshoe crabs with lighter shells grow brighter than older and darker adults!

I don’t entirely know why horseshoe crabs do this, but the tail wagging is too much for me. It’s so cute. She’s the queen of beach snow angels.
