A severe storms outbreak is underway this morning across parts of the south-central U.S. Lead forecaster Roger Edwards briefs Lead forecaster John Hart at shift change this morning in SPC operations.
Severe storms & tornadoes are expected today into tonight across the Southeast.

BREAKING NEWS - Forecast models are trending up for the potential of significant severe weather the day after Christmas across central and eastern Texas, including the Houston area! Deep moisture will surge back into Texas ahead of a potent upper-level storm system ejecting like a bowling ball on Dec 26. Supercells could fire as early as midday and will build southward toward the Houston area by late afternoon/evening. All hazards will be possible including a threat of tornadoes!

OVER 80 MILES OF I90 CLOSED!
I90 is closed from the PA border through the Hamburg, NY area south of Buffalo with whiteout conditions from extreme lake effect snow activity. Numerous vehicles have been stranded on portions of I90 in PA for several hours as seen on traffic cams. Travel is dangerous and discouraged if not illegal.

Heavy lake effect snow is forecast to persist across this region through the weekend. Portions of NY downwind of Lake Ontario, including Watertown, could see over 70 inches of snow

These were both from Osage county where more than a half dozen fires popped off. Other counties saw similar fire activity with Red Flags and wind gusts of 50 MPH pushing these Oklahoma fires.

A tremendous amount of progress was made today on existing fires, but fire danger is expected through the week. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this footage of these Oklahoma fires. 🙏
