Pay TV Subscribers Fall Below One Million for the First Time in Eight Years
Eight years ago, Uganda's entertainment industry revolved around satellite dishes and television decoders. Today, it revolves around smartphones. As TikTok, YouTube and streaming platforms attract millions of users, Pay TV's decline below one million subscribers signals a market where algorithms, not broadcasters, increasingly determine what people watch.

Kibale chimpanzees elect new leader
Nfuuzi’s death left behind a leadership vacuum, plunging the community of 120 chimpanzees into chaos and a power struggle for more than two years. The community, which inhabits the Kanyanchu sector of Kibale National Park, endured a dramatic story of power fights, betrayal and survival, until recently, when one dominant figure named Rukara emerged as a winner, beating his closest rival, Bahoire.

The view from @CNN headquarters as I wait…
A little adrenaline, a few nerves - first time going LIVE.
About to go #OutFront on @OutFrontCNN to talk about the airplane incident I captured at Newark Liberty.
Let’s do this.

Uganda at it again. A big shoutout to Local Works for their incredible works; beautiful, durable, and deeply sustainable. We need more architectural firms like them on this continent.
Two primary schools built at the edge of Kidepo Valley National Park in Karamoja, one of the most remote landscapes in East Africa. The brief wasn’t just education. It was conservation. Build schools that make communities see wildlife as a livelihood, not a threat.
The architecture answered that brief with the land itself. Hand-mined local granite for foundations and plinth walls. Compressed earth blocks manufactured on-site for the upper walls. No imported materials where local ones existed. The steel roof trusses were designed so light that two workers could lift them without machinery and slim enough that the roof structure of both schools fit on a single truck.
The colored louvre panels do double work, security and shade. Rainwater harvesting. Solar power. Biogas from on-site latrines. The building isn’t just sitting in the landscape. It’s functioning like part of it.
This is what it looks like when architects actually design for the people and the environment they’re building in.

"China scraps tariffs for all but one African nation"-
Good. But are African governments ready to leverage this improved access to Chinese Market? Are they ready to tackle the fundamental bottleneck OF EXPORTING RAW MATERIALS TO CHINA and then IMPORT Chinese manufactured goods? ARE WE?

Rwanda officially ends the "tax-free" era for the internet.
Under a sweeping new regulation, a 18% VAT now applies to all foreign digital services, including Netflix, Google, Spotify, and Uber. To ensure compliance, the government has turned banks and mobile money providers into gatekeepers: if a tech giant fails to register, the tax will be automatically withheld from your payment.
Whether it’s via your IP address or SIM card, the "borderless" economy is now localized directing digital profits back into Rwanda’s national development. Expect a price shift on your favorite subscriptions as this "clean, enforceable" law takes full effect.

As a farmer, it was unimaginable tht there could be jst an injection tht wld end the suffering of spending the whole weekend in the sun spraying cows, exposing yourself to toxic acaricides. This a grt success for the country, & it says a lot about our growth & good leadership.
The High Court yesterday made a very important decision. When you take a loan from any lending institution, the amount of interest accrued cannot exceed the amount you received from the institution (principal). Meaning if you borrow kshs. 100,000, you cannot pay more than kshs.200,000 in total. This is good news to many Kenyans. Tag that one lending institution wajionee habari kamili.
