The rowdiest storm chaser out of the swamplands! I study T-storms, hurricanes, and convective wind events. Weather content creator and commentator. #flwx
SOCIAL MEDIA NONSENSE: I have over a dozen messages from people over the past 12 hours from people asking about the "cold wave" coming in late August that will get temperatures down into the 40s and 50s in Alabama.
This is coming from a garbage AI engagement farm that posts long range nonsense year round. Hurricanes, tornado outbreaks, cold waves, winter storms 2-3 weeks out that never happen.
It is quite the operation; an AI agent scans all long range computer model output for any extreme event that shows up beyond 10 days (understand deterministic model output at that range means absolutely nothing). The AI agent then writes a humorous, potty mouth narrative designed for maximum engagement and posts it with the long range model map.
The post is shared by thousands and thousands of people who believe it. The operator of the page reaps a big reward from the content creator fund for the nonsense.
Don't let them turn you into a rube; ignore and block that content. And, and always, please think before you share.
The CPC 8-14 day guidance is attached with shows temperature trends from August 26-September 1. You won't need any jackets or sweaters.
Heat Advisories issued in Florida so far in 2026. You'll notice the number triples in just 150 miles between North Port and Miami. It doesn't necessarily mean Miami is much hotter. NWS Miami has a different criteria, with the heat index starting at 105 for the metro. NWS Tampa & Melbourne start at a heat index of 108.
Whoever decided to shut down the psl reanalysis from march 17 on has effectively neutered anyone wishing to show visible representations of current weather with the past If this is part of the budget cutting its a poor choice along with some valuable research being done Climate becoming political has dragged much of what i have now loved longer than anything in my life into a sewer
@TylerYogi99@LeadingReport The point of eating at home is to make your own meals, not to constantly eat reheated frozen slop. I agree people who use Doordash constantly are irresponsible but the cost of actual fresh, preparable food is insanity.
❄️ 🌀 Science! Read to end..
Like a hot knife through butter, the radar beam is blocked and the storm’s reflectivity is sliced in half by Hawaii’s huge mountain range as Hurricane LaLa’s Eyewall makes a direct hit on the South Tip of the Big Island of #Hawaii (The first one in 150 years+)
This blocked beam effect is always present, but you almost never see it in all its glory until a big storm hits. It’s quite a site to see!
Meanwhile at the top of Mauna Kea it’s snowing ❄️, winds are gusting 💨 to 154 mph with wind chills in the teens 🥶!
Snow-cane anyone?? #hurricane #lala
Hurricane Lala is producing some of the most bizarre storm conditions you will ever see on Hawaii’s Big Island.
At the summit of Mauna Kea, which rises 13,824 ft above sea level, a whiteout of tropical rain is being propelled by winds up to 140 MPH at an icy temperature of 38 F.
Hi. Meteorologist here.
4% of the population is not going to die because of the very strong El Niño that is developing.
In 1877–78, we didn’t have satellites to spot hurricanes offshore. We didn’t have Doppler radar to detect tornadoes. We didn’t have efficient methods to mitigate drought. We didn’t have smartphones or TVs to coordinate disaster preparedness and evacuation. We didn’t have accurate forecast lead times because numerical weather prediction models didn’t exist.
Quit the fear mongering.
Thanks.

Think critically and ask yourself this…who is the bigger contributor to false alarm perception: a NWS office that should have extended a warning a few minutes longer or clout chasers who hype literally everything up to be Armageddon? If everything is extraordinary, nothing is.
Degreed meteorologists say that tornado warnings save thousands of lives. A guy who denies that the Earth is hotter than it was 100 years ago and supports defunding the NWS in support of his private weather enterprise says otherwise. For busy weather enthusiasts, it can be hard to know who to trust.
Insane radar loop of the last 3 days in the Midwestern US. This includes about 4 MCS's, including a 15-hour-long Derecho and the start of a 5th MCS today. This also includes a historic flash-flood event across eastern Indiana where up to 12 inches of rain fell in 24 hours...
