Some personal news — after 5 years at Berkeley with the incredible @sleepdiplomat, I will be starting a new position with @ouraring this February. There, I will help shape the future of sleep tech and build the next generation of sleep algorithms.
@JoeLavelle20@ouraring Sorry to hear that. Have you reached out to Customer Support? They might be able to provide more details and tips about the changes that you've experienced with the new algo.
Oura's next-generation sleep staging algorithm is here! Something I've been working on for quite some time now, together with an amazing team of scientists and engineers. Read more at: https://t.co/bJk9RfLLi0 @ouraring
Can deep sleep offer protective compensation against beta-amyloid Alzheimer's disease pathology? 🤔Our new cross-sectional study suggests it can! 😴
In short, we found that NREM slow-wave sleep moderates the effect of beta-amyloid status on item memory function. Read here👇
@Martel_MF@sleepdiplomat@ouraring Merci :) Back to France (Lyon), at least for a few months. We actually just landed a couple of days ago. Missing the California ☀️ already!

I have had the privilege to work and interact with the Oura folks for the last couple of years, and I could not be more excited to join this amazing team of individuals.
Want to know how to wake up alert & refreshed? Our new @Join_ZOE research shows how sleep, exercise & diet might help in this quest! ..... sadly we can't account for little children 😉! Led by the talented @RaphaelVallat & @sleepdiplomat. @timspector

Great PhD opportunity to work with @sleepkerst and Arnaud Saimpont on the @FWF_at and @AgenceRecherche funded project:
“Effects of sleep on motor sequence learning by motor imagery in young and older adults“
Massive news: eLife to abolish accept/reject decisions: papers will just be “peer reviewed”. Others can argue about this, but lots of interesting consequences. 1/9 https://t.co/FedRxI62iC
@PsychPhsg Good question! First, this study was based on Fitbit devices, so these numbers would certainly be lower with gold-standard polysomnography. Second, 1-2 night of in-lab sleep data is indeed not a reliable representation of someone's typical sleep (e.g. "first night effect")
How many nights of data from wearable sleep trackers are required to get a reliable estimation of an individual's sleep parameters?
➡️At least 5 nights per month for sleep duration and >11 nights per month for sleep variability.

Just released a new version of YASA — our open-source sleep analysis toolbox 🧠😴. Among other new features, it now includes a new module to calculate heart rate and HRV throughout the night from the raw ECG. https://t.co/kUBg6sadYF #sleep#OpenScience
Insufficient (or poor quality) sleep reduces the desire to help others.
Check out our latest study just out in @PLOSBiology. Incredible amount of work from my colleague and friend @etoosh 👏 https://t.co/e9mM6Cq59F
