Military families at a base in VA just outside DC say they were displaced because of mold & infestation at their homes on base. Our investigation tonight on @ActionNewsJax reveals it's part of a widespread problem impacting families who live in privatized military housing.
I want to make it clear during #MilitaryAppreciationMonth: Those who serve our country deserve a safe, affordable place to live—for themselves and their families. My plan to improve our military housing would protect families from abuse and hold private developers accountable.
In fall 2018, as the Army set up @armyfutures, it gave one of its private housing partners $8.5M in profit from Ft Hood base housing to buy Austin homes for the 3 top leaders of the unit. $1.29M went to property for a parking lot at the commander's house.

“We as an institution got lazy... the wake up call was about two years ago... it was embarrassing...but you see a long term effort to sustain.” @SecArmy says about military housing.
As Fort Bragg’s Congressman, it was an honor to welcome @SecArmy to Fayetteville to discuss priorities for our military including housing on & off base. I’ll continue to work with the secretary & Trump administration to provide our troops & their families the resources they need.
Fort Belvoir Residents,
We wanted to take a moment to let you know the Belvoir Housing Advocacy Group, it’s representatives, and volunteers are actively still here. 1/6
Today’s SASC hearing once again exposed the desperate need for significant reforms to privatized military housing. Health hazards that Tim and I saw when we visited Ft. Belvoir earlier this year still haven't been fixed; military families are still facing unacceptable conditions.
@SecArmy invited @timkaine to @Fort_Belvoir to hear military families' concerns and observe housing in person.

Powell; Mullen; Dempsey-three former chairs of the Joint Chiefs of Staff-have rebuked the @POTUS. So have Generals Mattes and Allen. America’s most highly respected former military leaders are speaking out.
This is unprecedented.
