“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”
– Charles W. Eliot
Mr. Intekhab Alam (Zhang Shixuan) was indeed a luminary who contributed to the P2P side of Pakistan-China relations. His strong patronage of Urdu in China and its active promotion through his writings, including through translation of works by Faiz, would be long remembered!
Deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Intikhab Alam (Zhang Shixuan), former Editor-in-Chief of the Urdu edition of “China Pictorial”, an outstanding Urdu scholar, poet, translator, and one of the most devoted friends of Pakistan in China.
His lifelong service to the Urdu language and literature built enduring bridges of understanding between our two peoples. Among his many remarkable achievements was his translation into Chinese of Faiz Ahmed Faiz's “Nuskha Hae Wafa”(Collected Works), a monumental contribution that brought one of Pakistan's greatest poets closer to Chinese readers. He was also an accomplished Urdu poet whose own collection of poetry reflected his deep love for the language and its rich literary tradition.
Mr. Alam's unwavering commitment to strengthening Pakistan–China friendship, his warmth, humility, and his abiding affection for Pakistan earned him the admiration and respect of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
On behalf of the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and countless admirers. We share in their grief and honor the memory of a remarkable man whose legacy will continue to inspire generations in both Pakistan and China.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Right of Reply by Mr. Gul Qaiser Sarwani,
Counsellor/Political Coordinator at the Pakistan Mission,
In Response to Remarks of Indian Representative
During the UNGA Debate on the Annual Report of the UN Security Council
(5th of June 2026)
****
Mr. President,
Pakistan takes the floor in response to the remarks made by the representative of India.
2. It is also apparent that while all delegations that took the floor today expressed gratitude and appreciation for Pakistan’s work on drafting the introduction to the annual report and having it adopted by consensus by the Council in a timely manner, the representative of India only chose to focus on the elements that stated the facts with respect to the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute in the report. My PR recalled those facts in his statement as reflected in the report that is:
o The report records more than twenty communications on the India-Pakistan Question during the reporting period; and
o The closed consultations held by the Council on this agenda item on 5th May 2025 to take stock of the regional security situation and rising tension due to India’s aggressive posturing and design.
3. I would advise the Indian representative to carefully read the report, rather than denying facts, deflecting attention and misleading the august Assembly.
4. Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized dispute on the agenda of the Security Council. No amount of obfuscation can alter the historical, legal and international character of this dispute. Jammu and Kashmir never was, neither is, and nor will ever be so called an integral part of India.
5. Nearly eight decades after the Council's resolutions, calling for a UN supervised Plebiscite, the Kashmiri people continue to be denied their inalienable right to self-determination. Meanwhile, arbitrary detentions, restrictions on fundamental freedoms, demographic engineering and other human rights violations continue in the Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The gravity of the situation was reflected in the Joint Communication issued by United Nations Special Procedures on 16 October 2025.
6. The main problem Mr. President is that by refusing to implement Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, India continues to disregard its obligations under the UN Charter, including Article 25, which requires Member States to accept and carry out the decisions of the Security Council. The critical importance of respecting and implementing Security Council resolutions has been underscored by several delegations during today’s debate.
7. India's efforts to divert attention through allegations against Pakistan cannot conceal its own troubling record: sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan, perpetrating state terrorism in the IIOJK, conducting state-backed assassination campaigns in foreign countries, stoking violence against minorities, support for destabilizing activities in the region and disregard for international law, including its unlawful attempt to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance.
I thank you.
In 1998, I was too young to fully grasp what 🇵🇰had achieved. But I remember the pride & goosebumps those successful nuclear tests brought.
Now, it’s of course clear that the tests reaffirmed what Jinnah said:
“There is no power on earth that can undo 🇵🇰”
This is a historic moment. A proud moment for Pakistan and China, as both countries are proving to be strong pillars of support for each other and the world amidst an emerging world order. One that is more inclusive. Where global development, needed mediation in times of crises, and leadership are spearheaded beyond Western capitals. We work together, recognize each other’s efforts and contributions. This is what leadership looks like in a multipolar world.
Ambassador Khalil Hashmi’s recognition as Outstanding Diplomat is an ode to this time tested friendship. Congratulations!
It was my profound honor to receive “Outstanding Diplomat Medal” on behalf of Pakistan from Chinese Foreign Minister H.E. Wang Yi during an elegant ceremony today at @MFA_China - a first time such award was conferred.
Being awarded this honor at our most consequential diplomatic outpost, from where we guard and nourish our most ‘iron brotherhood’ is truly a rewarding feeling. However, much more can be done as for our relationship, sky is the limit. This year when we celebrate #PakChinaAt75, the motivation is even stronger!
I am grateful to the deep support extended by my colleagues at the Embassy, @PresofPakistan@PakPMO , DPM/FM @MIshaqDar50, FS @amnabaloch4, colleagues at @ForeignOfficePk, @PakinChina_ and our consulates and countless institutions in Pakistan.
H.E. @KhalilHashmi , Ambassador of Pakistan to China, will deliver the Keynote speech at the Regional Summit on Energy Transition and Green Development under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), organized by the Pakistan-China Institute and the Europe Asia Center.
🇵🇰🤝🇨🇳
One year on!
The goosebumps of being in China last May, listening to these statements by friends of Pakistan as well as friends of @PakinChina_.
What followed is history.
In Sanya, Hainan, the President attended the historic commissioning of Hangor-class submarine as Chief Guest. The President received Party Secretary and Governor of this vibrant province who also hosted a banquet in his honour; both sides held productive discussions & exchanged concrete cooperation proposals; separately the President witnessed signing of MoUs advancing cooperation in healthcare, technology, and industrial cooperation.
This special trip to Shaoshan carries profound meaning and sincere respect. It honors the origin of long-standing Pak-China friendship, embodying the timeless ironclad brotherhood rooted in shared history and heartfelt mutual regard between the two nations.
Welcomed the decision of IBI Group to establish its regional office in Islamabad and encouraged Chinese enterprises in Ningbo to join the delegation of over 60 business leaders scheduled to visit Pakistan for the inauguration of IBI regional office and targeted matchmaking meetings from 8-14 May 2026. Also witnessed MoU signing ceremony at the summit during which two agreements on New Energy and Intelligent Agriculture machinery were concluded, signifying IBI’s growing investment in Pakistan.
Pakistan welcomes all delegates including journalists from participating nations, traveling in relation to Islamabad Talks 2026. To this end, all airlines are requested to permit boarding to all such individuals without Visa. Immigration authorities in Pakistan will issue them Visa on Arrival.
With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes.
Both parties have displayed remarkable wisdom and understanding and have remained constructively engaged in furthering the cause of peace and stability. We earnestly hope, that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in coming days!

One of the successful outcomes of the visit of Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister @MIshaqDar50 to Beijing is the launch of 🇵🇰🇨🇳 5-point initiative for reviving peace & stability in the Gulf region and Middle East. This is in keeping with the long standing tradition of close consultations, communication and coordination on important regional and international issues between the two iron brothers.
