@PopulismUpdates I'm looking in shock but also thinking no other big parties will sit in a coalition with him so it might go to new elections... Or we are totally fucked
Fahrenheit 451 was never my favorite Bradbury/dystopian fiction because it felt a little too blunt, too far-fetched in its metaphorโ the state deploying high-tech 'firemen' to burn books to maintain its censorship regime? A bit on the nose.
Currently reevaluating that assessment
@thomasforth Turku feels like a crazy tiny station for its size of the city, but it's a beautiful inside building you kind of forget has a station downstairs
@Millar_Colin I recommend digging into CONIFA stuff, i did a lot of research there (writing for a betting company who wanted coverage on it), some super interesting stories of small countries, breakaway nations and unrecognised states (eg Occitania, Artsakh)
@thomasforth It's any excuse not to fix the housing crisis and any way of blaming not the government from my view of an expat here who speaks reasonable Dutch by now. Although the integration arguments for people who stay here are indeed valid
@AdderleyMonk @fesshole Haha I did one of those for a fella that looked like Paul Nuttall. He was mad when he realized the joke, more so as it dawned on him he actually looked like Paul Nuttall
@shornKOOMINS Same with all whp events on average tbf. Whp is definitely not friendly, definitely also some weird vibes for Outlook/Dimensions but the average cunt goes there less. Can't believe they never tried to fix it
@barneyfarmer@jrc1921 Yeah that was an amazing/horrible life lesson for me early on. Politics is one of those constructs where people get trapped in their lies and then rewarded within a shell
@sharonodea Yeah I think it's something like that... I have some friends here who hate Kings day but they will still like to see their friends etc, but I think it's also what the flag energy is used for here (vague togetherness) Vs a rightwing flag affair in the UK
Portugal's government announces radical plans to tackle housing crisis. Includes forcing all unoccupied homes to be put on market at affordable prices where it will act as estate agent. All rental prices will be capped and 'tourist apartments' prohibited.

@gem_ste It's honestly one of the most enjoyable things about living here. I can find anything I need within a reasonable walk or short cycle and I couldn't go back easily
