Tied up some spotted lanternfly patterns to see if the highly pressured, selective trout in "The Narrows" at Fishing Creek would target the invasive species. #fishing#flyfishing#flytying
Crystal clear water, direct sun, weeds and tree limbs everywhere: I executed the perfect approach and presentation, and still came up short. π€¦ββοΈ #fishing#flyfishing
To me, this is the ultimate fly fishing experience. A difficult upstream cast, under the tree branch mid-stream, then between two more tree branches hanging in the water, to a beautiful brown trout sipping flies off the surface. The dry fly had to be gently dropped right in front of the trout's nose without spooking it, followed by an immediate hookset. No other angle or approach is possible. Pinpoint accuracy is a must. I'll take one opportunity like this over a 50 fish outing with nymphs any day! #fishing #flyfishing #fish
@PeaboTheWizard An extended body mayfly pattern I tie on a size 12, 2x long hook. The fly size is more like an 8 or 10. The tail is now gone on this one after about a dozen fish. It works well for drakes and large cahills. Or just as an attractor pattern when nothing is hatching.
