It was a great experience interacting with mother nature at the Mt.Satima peak in the aberdares ranges in Kenya.
We are dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the mountain ecosystems.
Peatlands, which cover just 3% of Earth's surface, store 550 billion tonnes of carbon—twice as much as all forests combined. However, some 15% of them have been drained for agriculture.
Protecting these carbon sinks is vital #ForPeopleForPlanet.

Management actions are essential to ensuring that wetlands continue to deliver vital benefits for both people and wildlife.
Wetland ecosystem services include:
🌊Reducing flooding
💧Improving water quality

#InternationalMountainDay
As we celebrate International mountain day, we acknowledge the benefits of mountain ecosystems in enhancing the global quality of life.
From cutting-edge drone and satellite technology for forest monitoring, to sustainable substitutes derived from trees for plastics, building materials & fabrics, innovation can help us
✅ restore
✅ protect
✅ manage, &
✅ use our forests sustainably.
Forests are crucial in helping us adapt to #ClimateChange.
They:
💧help ensure water availability
🌊 protect against landslides and floods
🏜️ prevent desertification
🧑🤝🧑 provide alternative livelihoods for people
Today is #WorldSoilDay 🌱🤎
Healthy soils act like a sponge, preventing floods & ensuring food security.
Since 2005, our 🇪🇺 @LIFEprogramme has financed 74 soil-related projects worth €183 million!

#Forests do more for the climate than store and sequester carbon. 🌳 🌴
For example, they:
✅ regulate rainfall
✅ provide cooling benefits
✅ protect coastal areas
✅ provide forest products for local communities facing climatic threats

Here are 6 of the key characteristics of Nature-based Solutions (NBS).
🍄These allow us to distinguish NBS from other measures that use nature or natural processes.

Climate change, nature, and people are intrinsically connected 🔄
Taking action on climate change means adopting and implementing ambitious programs that prioritize these links.

In line with the restoration agenda on World Environment Day, focus ought to be put on mountain ecosystems as well due to their crucial role in water catchment.
We can't achieve the #GlobalGoals if our ecosystems are unhealthy.
From farmlands for #ZeroHunger to forests for life on land, vibrant ecosystems are crucial for our brighter tomorrow.

area is astounding; from Buffalos, Waterbucks to monkeys, and Jackson's francolin birds. The experience was nothing short of amazing. We shall revisit😄
Thank you @KWSKenya for your great coordination at the park.
Our Mackinder's valley hike was a great learning point on our journey to conquering peaks. It rained throughout but that was part of the fun. Due to time constraints we weren't able to finish but we got to make the most out of the bit we did. The diversity of nature found in the
