@78MrsG My Nanna was always loving and accepting of everyone no matter who they were. Whenever I get frustrated at other people I always remember her, because love and acceptance always wins over hatred and judgement.
@Erin_C_123 I agree, elements such as collaboration and skilled communication are needed in order to develop student’s 21st century skills. Just using technology to develop these skills is NOT enough.
@jwood961 Thanks for the share, I have also found my experience reflecting this view. Twitter can challenge education professionals to question their pedagogies. Reflection is a key skill to constantly assist teachers in meeting the needs of all students,
@Fletch12B A visual poster of what is recyclable would be beneficial in the classroom. Even better to have students create one to put around the school
Dewey, (1933), from his paper 'How We Think' states that 'reflection is the active, persistent and careful consideration of any belief or supposed form of knowledge' #UoNTeach How has twitter informed your pedagogy?
@cain_georgie At first I thought twitter was for celebrities and politicians to boost their own profiles. Now I understand how it can be used to connect, learn, teach and reflect with teaching professionals and share amazing resources.
@Jake64868444 There are so many great historical sites around Newcastle. Learning about history and the environment helps us to understand our impact and how we can learn to care for it.
@Jake64868444@DolphinSwimOz@Port_Stephens Thanks for the share. This would be fantastic excursion for students, encompassing cultural awareness, environmental factors and history.
Relating subject matter such as #photography to content, creates meaningful situations that are relevant to students' lives. Offers one promising approach to helping students learn more effectively.#UoNTeach
Learning about the environment is the first step towards preserving it. Explore the Everyone Can Create Drawing guide to help students explore, understand and celebrate the world around through illustrations. @OliverJeffers#EveryoneCanCreate
@cain_georgie Thanks for sharing @Cain_georgie. Looking forward to checking out this program. Its really helping me to understand more about #sustainability in developing a unit.
"take 3 for the sea". This program involves picking up 3 pieces of rubbish every time you’re out. Such an engaging topic for students with a real community focus on #sustainability. How would our world look if we all did this?https://t.co/ecZ4gSy91E #UoNTeach
Walton, J., Priest, N., & Paradies, Y. (2013). Identifying and developing effective approaches to foster intercultural understanding in schools. Intercultural education, 24(3), 181-194.
An interesting article on intercultural understanding and cultural diversity. Students and teachers may both need conceptual frameworks to think through their feelings, experiences and thoughts. What are your thoughts on this? #UoNTeach
Getting involved in local environmental community groups has many positive benefits. WHAT if in order to get involved meant time off school? Where do you draw the line between what's important in the curriculum and what's important in the world? #UonTeach
Discussing environmental issues through written letters incorporates KLAs Geography and English and can be used through all stages.
A global perspective is to understand and appreciate perspectives other than your own. #UoNTeach

Where does our waste go? A very interesting excursion available to students via the #Newcastle council. An authentic real life experience. #UonTeach

With an increased focus on collaboration and skilled communication in order to develop student’s 21st century skills, #sustainability is the perfect vehicle for improving student learning opportunities while developing their community engagement #UoNTeach
@78MrsG@Stanford Great article. It really cultivates a sense of purpose and extends benefits both ways. This is really important and needed in today's society. Thanks for sharing your learning.
Here are 10 wonderful ideas for teaching students about #sustainable living. This is a great tool for teachers and parents alike! https://t.co/OH5Ed4J9ZS #sustainability#UoNTeach
@jesse_richards A great share. I agree, teaching History can be complex, especially how far society has come in the past century. I think by finding engaging topics and crossing KLA's can assist educators in achieving this.
