This June is National Dairy Month. Join me in celebrating the dairy industry across Central Washington which employs thousands of people while contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to our region’s economy. In the Yakima Valley, our dairymen were subjected to lawfare during the previous Administration, and I am actively working with the EPA and Administrator Zeldin to remedy their situation and #SaveOurDairies. Support your local dairy with a glass of milk or a bowl of ice cream this month.
“Sugarbeet growers across Idaho, Oregon, and Washington are experiencing some of the toughest market conditions in recent history due to a flood of unfairly subsidized [over-quota] foreign sugar entering the U.S. market." — Samantha Parrott, Executive Director of the Snake River Sugarbeet Growers Association
We deeply appreciate the members of the Idaho, Oregon, and Washington delegations who signed the recent bipartisan, bicameral letter to @USTradeRep, including Senator @MikeCrapo, @SenatorRisch, @RepBentz, @RepBynum, @RepRussFulcher, @RepMGP, @RepValHoyle, @RepNewhouse, and @CongMikeSimpson.
Today, I had the opportunity to join members of the American Legion Post, officers of the VFW, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Sunnyside to share a few words this Memorial Day.
It was an honor and privilege to be a part of the ceremony and to remember our nation’s heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedoms.
On Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Take a moment today to pause and remember all those who have fallen defending the freedoms we hold dear.
No veteran should lose their Second Amendment rights due to financial circumstances.
That's why I supported the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act this week, which stops this injustice and ensures our veterans retain the constitutional rights they fought so hard to protect through their service.
Tonight the House passed my Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act. No veteran should lose their Second Amendment rights simply because they need help managing their finances, but that is exactly what’s been happening. Without a judge's ruling or any finding that a veteran is a danger to anyone, a VA bureaucrat could report them to the FBI's background check system and strip them of their right to bear arms. That is not how we treat the men and women who defended our Constitution. This bill puts a permanent end to that injustice, and as a Marine, proud gun owner, and Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I could not be more proud to have led the charge for its passage.
Sugar growers are a critical part of our agricultural industry, but foreign, sugar-producing countries continue to engage in discriminatory trade practices.
That's why I was pleased to join over 100 of my colleagues across the House and Senate on a bipartisan letter urging @USTradeRep to take swift action and protect sugar producers across the country.
More than 110 members of Congress sent a letter to the @USTradeRep, led by @SenJohnHoeven and @SenatorSlotkin and @RepFedorchak and @RepTroyCarter, urging USTR to take immediate action against the flood of over-quota foreign sugar devastating the livelihoods of family farmers and factory workers.
We deeply appreciate this bipartisan and bicameral effort to defend the American sugar industry against unfair trading practices.

Home ownership remains a goal for many young American families, but affordability continues to be an obstacle. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act addresses the barriers of new home construction, streamlines programs at HUD, and ensures capital for first-time buyers is readily available. The housing crisis continues to impact communities across the country, and Central Washington is no exception. Congress must advance a package to the President’s desk that will deliver for American families.
I was pleased to support the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill.
This legislation builds on House Republicans’ commitment to supporting veterans, our soldiers and their families, and it represents the beginning of our appropriations process for FY27.
Investing billions in infrastructure improvements at VA medical facilities nationwide, this bill will help our service members and veterans struggling with mental health challenges while also strengthening suicide prevention programs.
America’s men and women in uniform deserve the best care, and I will always look out for those who volunteer to defend our nation.
Promises made to veterans and military families must be backed by action. 🇺🇸
The House just passed the first FY27 appropriations bill - fully funding veteran care, strengthening base readiness, and investing in quality-of-life needs. https://t.co/jS3SFyrBPd
Today, I joined 78 of my House colleagues on a bipartisan letter to United States Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer. We highlighted struggles facing our specialty crop farmers, unfair regulations putting American farmers at risk, and lopsided production advantages that countries like Mexico exploit. I applaud my friend Rep. Austin Scott for his leadership on this issue.

Yesterday, I was pleased to convene dozens of industry leaders, state legislators, and stakeholders in Moses Lake for a Central Washington Energy Summit.
From the only nuclear power reactor in the region to abundant hydropower on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, Washingtonians know better than most the importance of smart energy policy.
A huge thanks to Big Bend Community College for hosting. And to all who came, participated and stopped by, it was great to see you.
This National Police Week, join me in thanking our officers for their bravery and dedication to the safety of our families and communities. We honor and remember all officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and I am thankful for those in law enforcement who keep Central Washington safe every day.
The FY27 Ag-FDA bill protects our farmland, strengthens agriculture research and trade programs, and ensures robust food safety inspection to keep our grocery stores stocked.
@RepNewhouse hit the nail on the head – every member should support this bill.
Rural America is in dire straits.
That's why I was pleased to vote in support of the Farm Bill—critical bipartisan legislation to strengthen support for the over 250 specialty crop growers in the Fourth District alone, improve access to much-needed crop insurance, invest in agricultural export programs, and reauthorize voluntary, incentive-based conservation programs.

"In light of this evening's events, I ask that all Americans recommit with their hearts in resolving our differences peacefully." - President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸
@USDA needs adequate staffing to best implement important programs like the U.S. Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) Program.
That's why I led a letter along with 14 of my House colleagues to USDA urging the Department to address understaffing at the @usdaFSA and the @USDA_NRCS.

What a week so far!
Six @westerncaucus bills, with two companion pieces of legislation from the Senate - one coming from Chairman Emeritus of the @SenWestCaucus@SteveDaines, have passed the House through suspension.
#WCF#WesternCaucus
America needs more energy.
That is why I'm pleased that the House overwhelmingly passed S. 1020, known as the "Build More Hydro" bill—@SteveDaines' Senate companion to my legislation in the House that will allow our Nation to meet our growing hydropower needs.
Now, this bill goes to President Trump's desk to become law. Thank you to Senator Daines for his hard work on this critical proposal.

As a third-generation farmer, I know how important agriculture is to our economy in Central Washington. Farm country is in dire straits.
That's why, in my latest op-ed in @agripulse , I explain why Congress must pass the Farm Bill to deliver for farmers, ranchers, and producers across the country.
