@g_kwami@Phil_Lewis_ Slavery is abolished EXCEPT as a punishment for CRIMES. You are free to go, no 40 acres though. Instead 4 million of us were released directly into homelessness, a punishable CRIME! REPARATIONS FOR #ADOS NOW.
How Slavery continued after the 13th amendment ‘abolished slavery’
A THREAD!
In 1866, a year after the amendment was ratified, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina began to lease out convicts for labor.
@golden_modem@Andy68580664@jukiejones@PrayOrDie A better question would be why would America refuse to repair people it had broken? Reparations are for American Descendants of Slavery whose ancestors were owed them after 247 yrs of chattel slavery. Had they been provided then, their descendants would have benefitted.
@golden_modem@Andy68580664@jukiejones@PrayOrDie Make your speech about the Jan 6th criminals then instead of those criminalized BECAUSE of their skin color. I wasn't comparing incarceration to slavery. I was talking about what happened AFTER slavery, instead of our repair. REPARATIONS FOR #ADOS NOW!
@golden_modem@Andy68580664@jukiejones@PrayOrDie Slavery is abolished EXCEPT as a punishment for crimes. Then 4 million of us were freed directly into homelessness, a punishable crime. Convict leasing to mass incarceration. You do the math.
@BabaDrObaTShaka@socialforfun You can get it right at https://t.co/qr92pilXEG instead of running around telling tales about #ADOS that just aren't true based on selective tweets. I challenge you to do that.
@MrIntrospect222 Re-read the terms of our release from slavery. Slavery is abolished EXCEPT as a punishment for crimes. Then 4 million of us were released directly into homelessness, A PUNISHABLE CRIME. 40 Acres for #ADOS.
@therealAxetruth@SilentCalm19@MikeBaggz We aren't begging. We're asking a DEBT be honored. The DEBT: a little land & to be left TF alone to heal after 246 yrs of brutal chattel slavery. Instead we got Slavery is abolished EXCEPT as a punishment for crimes. Then freed directly into homelessness, a punishable crime.
And it removed race as a criteria in addressing a problem caused by the USDA's denial of services to #ADOS farmers BECAUSE of their race. It should be called the Business Of Screwing Black Americans As Usual Act. It's just a continuation of redlining!
Because we passed the Inflation Reduction Act, we capped insulin costs for seniors at $35 a month and are bringing down the cost of prescription drugs.
Not a single Republican in Congress voted for it.
Slavery is abolished EXCEPT as a punishment for crimes. You are free to go. No 40 acres though. So you're all homeless. And that is a punishable crime.
In 1898, nearly 75% of Alabama's entire annual state revenue came from convict leasing to private railways, mines, and large plantations. - ) This was in many ways worse than slavery. By the way, the people in this picture were not people of color. https://t.co/FCrlXVb3RM
@afreeqi The #ADOS movement has nothing to do with Africans & Diasporians. It is about reparations for American Descendants of Slavery for what we've endured the last 157 years & a comprehensive agenda for all blacks. How are you get hate other groups from that? https://t.co/ATxen8cM4E
@conci1iary@nhannahjones Until we decided we'd be called Americans, the black ones (Say It Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud), we were never ANYTHING-American. We were tar-baby, spook, coon, boy, n*gg*r, negro. If you were one of 1000s of black men working for the railroad, your name was George. #ADOS
@RatchettRachel Your question began "What's the difference between #ADOS and #FBA." I thought if you got that question answered, your second question might answer itself.
@rasheednwalters@DailyCaller Chattel Slavery was American and Necessary for white people to succeed in America. After 246 yrs of it, instead of repairing #ADOS, we got Slavery is abolished EXCEPT as a punishment for crimes, then freed directly into homelessness, a punishable crime. REPARATIONS NOW!
