Great news. The @UN General Assembly just adopted its 1st ever resolution on #drowning. Drowning has killed > 2.5 million people in the last decade. As @WHO I am honored to take up the task of coordinating #drowning #prevention across the UN system, as requested in the resolution

Over 600 participants from 64 different countries gathered in Durban earlier this month #WCDP2019. There were so many highlights, but possibly the most important take-away from this conference was the RNLI initiative to lobby the UN to formulate a “Declaration” on “Drowning”
