The house in the background of that picture remained standing because the church took the brunt of the storm surge. The church literally saved the lives of the people there. The great-grandchild of the people in that house gave those altar flowers today.

The altar flowers today were given in memory to the people of #galveston who died in the Great Storm of 1900. Here’s what the storm did to Trinity.

Learning again that shared ministry starts with shared learning. Head of School, Youth Minister, and I have started weekly bible study. Helps us prep for school chapel, but also helps us grow as a team.

The length of the line @ModCoffeehouse is the single best indicator of how many people are visiting #Galveston on any given day. No line today means schools are starting across Texas.

It’s crazy hot and the peak of hurricane season is still ahead, but I saw Orion in the dark morning sky. I always loved that first sighting, knowing that the seasons will soon change.

As rector of Trinity, Galveston, I am a director for a charitable foundation that helps students from the island pay for college. One gift from the 1940s created this foundation and it’s changing lives today. Generosity echoes through the generations.
