Check out our new paper https://t.co/lvMKJJCNb7 we use isotope resolved metabolomics to map how bacteria in the #microbiome use nutrients to become resilient to deficient host dies, boost reproduction by synthesizing amino acids, & use metabolic teamwork to alter decision making
How #microbiome affects their host #behavior ?@RibeiroCarlitos & Sílvia Henriques new paper @NatureComms show how #gut🦠#microbes feed each other to overcome dietary deficiencies, change host behavior & improve reproduction.

Fantastic job by @Pat_TFrancisco on presenting her PhD work to the #EDRC2023 crowd. She used #Drosophila#mouse and now #zebrafish to dissect the evolutionary conservation of a new feeding regulating Neuropeptide family.
Finally we are hosting summer and rotation students again. We had a fantastic Indian lunch this week to welcome our visitors and say goodbye to others. Great to have this diversity in the lab and to get to experience fresh and dynamic young minds.
Congratulations to @SF_Henriques for being awarded one of the very competitive national researcher positions funded by the Portuguese Science Funding agency FCT. Great to see her move from microbiologist to #Drosophila#microbiome wrangler being rewarded.
While it isn't the first whole-brain volumetric Ca2+ paper I've read, this one is relevant to my interests in signal integration and feeding control *and* actually follows through with validation assays! From @Dahaniel, @GoldschmidtDe & @RibeiroCarlitos: https://t.co/sYjvxkzB3A
#preprint alert! Check out what @Dahaniel in the lab has been up to. We are so happy to get to share his gorgeous work in which he uses pan-neuronal 2 photon imaging to dissect how the #brain integrates multiple internal states to guide #food#choice! Watch the video!
Excited to share our latest work - we use pan-neuronal 2 photon imaging to dissect how the #brain integrates multiple internal states to guide #food#choice! Fantastic work by @dahaniel who took on this challenging project almost solo! #drosophila https://t.co/kQML55lVh3 1/21
Really excited to share and discuss our work tomorrow! Looking forward to learning a lot in these 2 days, particularly to see the different approaches allowing us to explore this type of data in the amazing #drosophila 🤓
Congratulations to @EzraGili in the lab for being awarded a crazily competitive #MSCA individual fellowship to work on how amino acids coordinate nutritional responses across tissues! Too bad we do not get to celebrate in person! Hopefully soon!
As we have been getting a lot of emails about this lately we would like to clarify that we do not sell flyPAD systems and that we are neither associated with or endorse any company selling flyPAD systems. We have always made all our technology available as open source.
