This is a newly granted Dublin project that caught our eye. Firstly, as it’s beside us on Ormond Quay Upper on the Liffey. But secondly, as it’s such a rare example of a well-considered, thoughtfully designed mixed-use refurbishment of a type once common in Dublin in the 000s 🧵
Ireland literally had every settlement on its island connected to railways and then let it rot away. I understand that many routes may have been more efficiently served by busses, but like for sure it would have made sense to keep more of the network than you did?
I’ve written to the Minister urging immediate action to ensure the State purchases a major landholding in the Wicklow Mountains, including the summit of Lugnaquilla, ahead of its auction on May 1st.
At €2 million, down from €7 million, this is a rare opportunity we cannot afford to miss.
There is already strong international interest in the land. It would be unacceptable for such a treasured and iconic landscape to fall into private ownership.
This land should be protected for the public, not sold to the highest bidder.
Time is short, and action is needed now. The right decision is clear, this belongs in public ownership.
I’ve also launched a petition so people can show their support.

Ireland has lost a true music icon, with the passing of Moya Brennan @BrennanMoya the lead singer of @ClannadMusic . Loved by all who knew her, Moya always had an aura of warmth and kindness about her. Our sincere condolences to her husband Tim and children, Aisling and Paul.

Our new city landmark catching the evening light. To me it’s mind boggling that the city has allowed a building of this height right beside Trinity. Yet anything of 10 or more storeys down in the Docklands will still get rejected.

Every UK newspaper should be running this on tomorrow’s front page.
But only the @ScotNational is.
Because it’s the only respectable newspaper left and still believes in honest, fearless journalism.
