It is NOT a dead ball. The ball remains live -- runners can steal, advance on wild pitches, etc.

The overturn was correct by rule. PCA was entitled to second base. The teams completed the play as they're supposed to as they don't know in the instant how the pitch is called. Once PCA touched second, he's gotta hold the bag. Once he took his hand off the bag, it's the same as if he tried to advance to third.

My personal thoughts? This is where replay sucks. Replay was designed to correct gross errors, not plays where someone comes off the base for a split second as part of the slide or play. Now fielders are holding tags hoping that the runner separates for a microsecond.

Of course I feel the same way about pitches overturned cause they miss by 0.1" - I think the umpire should be considered correct on anything within 0.5 - 0.75 inches (0.75" MOE is how umpires are evaluated) AND they need to use the 3D zone, not a plane in the middle of the plate. Replay was supposed to be for big misses.

Absolutely interference. The runner must always avoid a fielder fielding a ground ball like this. Fielder has the right of way. Doesn't matter if he's in a direct line betwen bases or any other nonsense.

Foot contacted glove. While contact is not required for interference here, contact is certainly interference.

Basketball season is already too long, doesn't need to be extended (should be shortened). Many teams already do open gyms in the fall anyways. But most significantly, there should be no organized activities during other sports seasons. Is basketball going to be ok if baseball, track, and other spring sports start practices during the hoops playoffs?
