Mark Tully was a giant among journalists and the greatest Indophile of his generation. He was also a uniquely warm, generous, gentle, kind and helpful man, at whose feet I was honoured to sit for many years as he patiently explained the subtleties & nuances of India. As the voice of BBC India he was irreplaceable, a man prepared to stand up to power and to tell the truth, however uncomfortable. Both privately and professionally, he will be much, much missed.
Looks like a robust RCT in moderate/severe colitis well done m. Trouble is there are so many different tapering regimens-the findings feel right when I think of my clinical practice. I give 40mg pred 2/52 then reduce 5mg/wk. What do others do?

5 science breakthroughs this week (🧵)
1. Lupus remission with cell therapy
18 patients with longstanding, treatment-resistant lupus were treated with B cell-depleting natural killer cells (CD19 CAR NK-cells)
There results were pretty amazing: every patient was able to stop conventional immunosuppressants and taper steroids; 13/18 had lupus remission (‘DORIS’)
This approach seems to be roughly as effective as using CAR-T cells — with a gentler safety profile
