This is the crux of it...
Low intensity training (of the right duration) is a 'deposit' into the HRV bank account that you can later 'withdraw' from with hard training.
Too many withdrawals with not enough deposits = you're bankrupt!
1/ A thread: I've been asked a lot over the last few days about our heat adaptation protocols for Tokyo 2020 - the hottest Olympics ever. So a few thoughts...
Proud of @antonystad for successfully confirming his PhD candidature. The project is examining the determinants & development of track cycling performance. Coaches, athletes & practitioners interested in contributing to studies 3 & 4 DM Antony. Please RT
Great to see our latest paper in press from @LJMUNutrition with @JamesyMorton@Andy_Kasper@sparks_andy and @StablesReuben .
Ever wondered how accurate remote food photography method (Snap-N-Send) is in sport nutrition? If so have a read here https://t.co/yzAZ3gQEAG
If you are interested in the topic, here you can read a post I did in @glut4science some months ago about fat oxidation and nutrition.
I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks again @Alan_Couzens for your inspiration.

@Alan_Couzens Second that, of all the metrics to collect this is by far the easiest thing to do. Takes my kettle 60s to boil, takes ithlete 55s for w reading, could not be designed more precise 😂
Great new study on the determining factors of ultra running performance. 2 factors: Velocity at #VO2max coupled with max #FatOxidation explain 66% of the performance for men! Didn't show in the women but as @dinagriffinrd suggests, maybe methodological issues at play.
Improving a cyclist’s flexibility and ability to adopt an anteriorly rotated pelvis and lower handlebar height, should increase the force generated in the push phase of the pedal stroke and thus improve their performance. @WendzH @JeroenSwart https://t.co/KZbBbpyf2N

Did non-responders simply not respond to
training regimen as the #intensity and/or #volume was
too little?
With the right #training, non-responders do not exist.

How many athletes perform fasted training? Turns out, a lot! Thx everyone who responded and/or shared the survey. 1st paper from my PhD! https://t.co/xu4HcTfj5i @theplews1@IJSNEMJournal
