@MrSilhouette @LASHYBILLS This is not an epileptic seizure. I had my suspicions but I just showed my neurologist wife and she confirmed. The arm and leg twitching was not rhytmic enough and not in sync, and there was hip thrusting which is not possible in a true epileptic seizure.

@Dr_Done_ @timricketts_ So do you believe you could just walk up to a mass casualty and be the transportation officer, operations section chief, or incident commander? There's a whole lot more to MCIs than just triage and patient care. A paramedic needs to be ready to take any of those roles.

@spartywrx @IM_Crit_ It's all about scope of practice and protocol/policy. Like in my state, my SOP says I can't take someone on a Precedex drip but I can take someone on a propofol drip. However, my agency doesn't have a protocol or policy for me to actually do that.

@tonyver45 @IM_Crit_ There are such things as critical care ground transport, but it's not in every region. These are staffed by a critical care paramedic, or a critical care nurse, or both. I'd say it would be unwise to just toss a regular ICU nurse into an ambulance

@fredrick_d31586 @nickmmark Saying one is electrical and one is circulatory is stupid. Most MIs are detected by electrical changes in the hearts conduction system. MIs can cause cardiogenic shock and affect circulation. And only some cardiac arrests can be treated with electrical shocks.

@fredrick_d31586 @nickmmark A heart attack (myocardial infarction) is a blockage in the coronary arteries which causes a hypoperfusion in the myocardium, which can lead to cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest in the absent of a pulse which can be a result of numerous things (12 reversible causes).
