Central Coast Council is providing a $5000 grant to help restore Tuggerah Lakes through the Tuggerah Lakes Estuary Changemakers' Course. This is an amazing way to draw people in to help restore the Tuggerah Lakes Waterway. https://t.co/5NB1ZQQDIw #UoNTeach#educ4750
Central Coast Waterwatch is an amazing local program. Involving school and community groups which monitor water quality and also clean up some of the Coast's waterways. Students encouraged to get involved with programs like this. #UoNTeach#educ4750

@AmyDean68216730@Seabin_project It is such an amazing project, I just had to share the amazing work they are doing around the world and especially in Australia.
Wow! What an amazing project the @Seabin_project is. Already removed 30 tonnes of pollution from just Sydney Harbour. Initiatives like this should be shown to students to inform them on the amazing work being done to conserve the sea. #educ4750#UoNTeach
@TeaganHartge They are such a useful resource for teaching the sustainable development goals. They provide useful ideas that educators can use for each of the goals.
What a great resource for teachers to use to teach the #SDG goals. It provides educators with different ways to teach the goals and ideas on every specific goal. I will be using this to help me teach my goal of #SDG14.
#educ4750#UoNTeach
All my #educ4750 colleagues, have I got a resource for you! Need some ideas on how to implement your #SDG? Check out Fizzics Education! I will be using some of these resources in my S.O.S unit for #SDG14. What will you use? I would love to hear! #UoNTeach

@TheOceanCleanup is an amazing project that is aiming to reduce the amount of pollution in the ocean. Just one ship alone was able to remove so much rubbish. This is an amazing initiative that I will be using to build knowledge of #SDG14. #UoNTeach#educ4750
Another 6820kg out of the ocean marks Jenny’s 23rd extraction so far and the last one before heading back to port for a crew change and offload. System 002's total catch is 55,020kg so far; 1/1500th of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
@PhilSweeney31 Having reusable water bottles is such a great way to help reduce your own plastic usage. I also use reusable water bottles and have stopped using plastic straws and utensils to do my part.
Using alternatives to plastic and saying no to single use plastic is one way that we can make a difference. "What are environmentally safer plastic alternatives?" is the question I will pose to my students. #UoNTeach#educ4750
@TeaganHartge @WWF How good are they! It provides educators with resources that they can use in the classroom to help educate their students about SDG14.
The @WWF provides teacher resources that can be used to teach the students about ocean pollution. The activities encourage group work and collaboration and are very informative. #educ4750#UoNteach#SDG14 https://t.co/1dEPR33ozL
@TeaganHartge @WWF I feel like it is important to make students aware now of the danger the ocean is in. Using these resources in the classroom is a great way to create student awareness of the issues at hand.
What a great resource @WWF is for informing students about the constantly growing problem that ocean pollution is. These photos show the students the immense damage that pollution is causing to the ocean and the animals.
#educ4750#UoNteach#SDG14
@WWF creating great stimuli to start conversations about protecting our oceans from plastic waste. These photos are a powerful way to establish understandings about #SDG14 and spark emotions among students about the change needed for our oceans. #educ4750#UoNTeach
If we keep on this trend of using single use plastic, by 2050, there will be more plastic in our oceans than there will be fish. This is a terrible statistic and something needs to change. How might you make a change? #UoNTeach#educ4750#plasticpollution
This picture highlights how much of our Earth is covered by water. Without preserving the life that live in the ocean, we may lose many species. What else can we do to help preserve sea life? #educ4750#UoNTeach
I think this is such a great idea to help make students aware of the danger that see animals are in due to pollution. Ideas such as this can motivate students to make a change in not only their own life but make changes in their community. #UoNTeach#educ4750
After students learn about the affects of marine poaching, marine plastics & pollution on marine life. The whole school community could then raise funds & through @WWF_Australia , adopt a sea turtle. How proud our students would feel as they make a difference! #UoNteach#SDG14
This is such an amazing resource that I will definitely be showing my students. Finding alternatives to plastic will help reduce our pollution footprint on the world. #UoNTeach#educ4750
The schoolyard is the perfect place to educate students on the damage that plastics inflict on our environment. Teaching recycling and garbage management methods early can help students truly understand the importance of protecting our planet
#UoNteach https://t.co/8iRi4coiF7
I wanted to share this amazing Australian company as they are doing some great work to help reduce the amount of plastic pollution. They recycle soft plastics into objects such as furniture and play equipment for kids. #UoNTeach#educ4750 https://t.co/Qc6RNnWQDn
Encouraging students to get involved in initiatives such as #cleanupaustraliaday is becoming increasingly important. Showing students statistics such as this could really make a difference in battling pollution in the ocean. #UoNTeach#educ4750
Image the impact we could have if everyone in Australia collected just 3 pieces of rubbish this #CleanUpAustraliaDay 💭

This book is definitely a resource that I will be using in my classroom. @Take3fortheSea does an amazing job of informing not only children but everyone the damage being done to the sea by pollution. #UoNTeach#educ4750
Inspiring a new generation of ocean advocates, the fictional children’s book Little Pago spreads the Take 3 message far and wide.

After doing research into the amount of pollution in the sea, I began to ask myself a question. Are we doing enough in schools to educate children about the damage being caused by rubbish and pollution? What do you guys think? #educ4750#UoNTeach
@TeaganHartge This is such a great initiative. Encouraging schools to create their own gardens by providing them with the seeds is such a great way to get projects moving.
@TeaganHartge 100% it is. Passing on knowledge to restore the environment is something that should be taught in every school, so the students can make a difference and change the world for the better.
