@slooterman @ChristianityOn Deafness is really the only disability with a culture and that’s because of the language. There’s really no wheelchair culture or even blind culture. My son is physically Deaf and I’m raising him culturally Deaf as well and the norms are definitely different.

@ThymeToBeBorn This is correct. I was talking to a psych nurse who had a patient in her facility who tore out and ate her own eye. That woman was eventually properly medicated and is now working as a one-eyed cashier. Modern medicine is a marvel.

@pythonrocksnake @seconds_0 Heck, just grow dry beans. It takes forever to plant then harvest and then hand thresh them into something edible. Working my mom’s small scale farm has made me not want to ever market farm let alone subsistence farm.

@mandalynns23 This is why I don’t feel comfortable leaving my son alone with people who don’t sign. People seem to think it’s fine but it’s actually frustrating to be around people who you can’t communicate with and don’t understand why.
