.@JeniferLewis is a force - on screen, in our community, and standing with me as we keep moving Los Angeles forward. Thank you for lending your voice, your love, and your fierce hope for what this city can be.
You can feel when a movement is real.
This campaign is powered by people coming together — guided by love, community, and California values. You can’t buy this kind of support. ✨
Rev Jesse L Jackson’s historic presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988 helped to reshape modern American politics and the Democratic Party. Jackson ’84 won 5 primaries and caucuses, 3.5 million votes, and 18.2% of the total primary vote. The campaign finished with 384.5 convention votes in San Francisco.
Chuck D is thee right person to address Gene Simmons’ tone deaf commentary.
I love how he focuses on the importance of music creation and narratives because it’s not enough to own our stories.
We have to keep telling them too. #BHM
We are officially less than one week away from the launch of In Pursuit, a landmark initiative celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

As my father taught us, movements are built by many hands. Bayard Rustin helped shape nonviolent resistance and made the 1963 March on Washington possible. As an openly gay man who lived with courage and integrity, he helped bend the moral arc of history.
@sleitnick Isn't it more like letting a robot make your Legos dream come true more quickly, because you have other, more important, interesting, or inspiring things to do?
Rosa Parks was born 113 years ago today, gracing the world with a powerhouse in civil rights leadership, a role model for women who feel unheard, and a talented seamstress.
One of the most influential advocates for ending desegregation in the US, Rosa Parks worked tirelessly at Highlander Folk School's desegregation workshops, ran by educator and activist Septima Clark, to eventually show the world that unity is possible. Despite the tense social environment, Rosa Parks held faith in her cause and knew that she had to quell any fear or doubt that she was fighting for the right thing.
Words alone cannot capture the impact that Congresswoman @EleanorNorton has had on DC, our Nation and the cause of civil and human rights. Congresswoman Norton’s statement announcing her retirement however will live in our hearts and minds forever because it summarizes exactly how she earned the title of DC’s Warrior on the Hill: “With fire in my soul and the facts on my side, I’ve raised hell about the injustice of denying 700K taxpaying Americans in DC the same rights given to residents of the states for 35 years.” I promise you that we will not yield in carrying on your torch for DC and all of the causes that you have championed in Congress and your service to the nation prior.
With fire in my soul and the facts on my side, I’ve raised hell about the injustice of denying 700K taxpaying Americans in DC the same rights given to residents of the states for 35 years.
Now, with pride in our accomplishments, gratitude to DC, and confidence in the next generation, I announced I'll retire at the end of this term.
