Yesterday at our fellowship @rkkkalungi took us deep on breast cancer. Raw. Real. Necessary. Here’s what every one of us needs to know. 🧵💙
5 things we learned:
1. Men AND women have breasts. Yes, men. And yes, men get breast cancer too.
2. It’s the 2nd most common cancer in women globally.
3. Many factors dictate risk - genetics, hormones, lifestyle. Not just one thing.
4. Females account for 98% of cases but 2% are men. Don’t ignore it.
5. Breasts matter in daily life - intimacy, breastfeeding, identity. When we don’t talk about them, we miss chances to catch disease early.
The myth we busted: ´Does sucking reduce breast cancer risk?´
Data suggests a small 4.4% potential reduction, but @rkkkalungi was clear: Sucking does NOT prevent breast cancer. Don’t rely on it. Don’t spread that as gospel.
What DOES help? Suckling. Breastfeeding releases prolactin, which is protective but it doesn’t eliminate the chances of getting cancer.
How to check yourself - Look, Feel, Know Your Normal:
1. Look in the mirror. Check size, shape, nipple position. Any skin changes, dimpling, discharge with blood?
2. Feel with 3 fingers. Move in circles. Know what YOUR breast normally feels like.
3. Tell your spouse or a medical professional if you notice changes in nipple attachment, lumps, or skin texture. Nipples differ, but sudden changes matter.
Non-negotiables are:
✅ Mammogram at least once a year, especially 40+
✅Consent always comes before intimacy. Seek it.
✅ Family history of breast cancer? Tell your doctor. Start screening earlier.
✅Earlier you treat, the better. Diagnose. Treat. Don’t wait.
Bottom line: Your breasts, your responsibility. Partners, help each other & check. Men, you’re not exempt.
We left that room uncomfortable and that’s good. Awareness saves lives.
Thank you @rkkkalungi for the truth, not the taboo.
If you notice anything unusual, talk to a healthcare professional immediately. Don’t Google. Don’t guess. Act.

This is where I disagree. Their counterparts (nurses and midwives) get registered immediately when results are released.... i.e they don't wait for transcripts and certificates, WHY ALLIED professionals?

Chuck was an icon.
I am grateful that I was able to work with him in multiple ways over the years, from promoting fitness to sharing the screen together. He was a badass, in real life and in Hollywood.
His legend will be with us forever. My thoughts are with his family.
🚨 Big shoutout to Achiro Brenda Muthemba for shedding light on #WASH in urban areas! 💧
Key takeaways:
- Safe water is a human right, yet many rely on unsafe sources 🌊
- Girls' health & dignity are at risk without proper sanitation facilities 🚺♀️
- 40:1 pupil-to-toilet ratio in schools - we can do better! 🏫
- Only 2-10% of Kampala has sewer network coverage 😱
- Time for change: piped water, extended sewer networks & behavioral shifts 💪
Thanks to Brenda & @Water4PeopleUG for the eye-opening fellowship! 🌟
