@AmericanAir It’s flight 2452. We landed about an hour ago - no updates. My friends @Delta plane landed about 30 minutes ago and she is on her way to the hotel.
@AmericanAir my friend landed after me at Austin airport, but @Delta reserved a terminal. So we’re grounded with no estimated time to get off the plane and she is on the way to the hotel. Nice work!
Day 63 of training for a sub-20-minute 5k:
To run a faster 5k, I need to focus more on strength and speed. This workout was designed to hit both:
4 Rounds:
- 1/2 mi run at 6:15 pace or faster
- 5 KB one-arm rows
- 5 KB swings
- 10 KB twists
- 5 push presses
- 5 deadlifts w/ high pull
Finished with a 1-mile cool down.
Pushing myself felt good!

Day 64 of training for a sub-20-minute 5k:
Got my speed workout done—4 miles at a comfortably fast pace—but the real highlight?
I broke my nose playing basketball!
Should a 45-year-old be playing with college kids?
Probably not.
Was it worth getting headbutted by a frustrated player who couldn’t keep up? 100%.
Who knew keeping up with the young guns could be so dangerous—and so satisfying? 😅
Unfortunately, a break (pun intended) in training will need to be delay.

Day 61 of training for a sub-20-minute 5k:
Cross-training is essential—it builds strength, prevents injury, and keeps your body balanced.
- 40 minutes of intense indoor biking
- 10-minute kettlebell workout
Sometimes, the work you put in off the track is what makes all the difference on race day. #RunWyze #TrainingJourney #CrossTraining #StayStrong
Day 62 of training for a sub-20-minute 5k:
This long run was anything but easy—I felt every step of it all day! The humidity and heat definitely got to me.
- 8 miles in the bank
Some days test your limits more than others, but it’s those tough runs that build the strongest runners.

Day 60 of training for a sub-20-minute 5k:
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” — Robert Collier
Today’s 45-minute easy run on the treadmill may seem small, but it’s these daily efforts that add up to big results.
Keep showing up, and the progress will follow. 🏃♂️ #RunWyze #TrainingJourney #ConsistencyIsKey
Every time I see a cross-training day on the bike, I think, "This is going to be easy”
40 minutes later, I'm drenched in sweat with legs that feel like lead
It’s funny how my mind tricks me into thinking it’ll be a breeze, only to be humbled by the intensity. 🚴♂️💦 #RunWyze
Day 59 of training for a sub-20-minute 5k:
Started by pacing my daughter for a bit, then moved on to my speed workout:
- 0.5 mi warm-up
- 0.5 mi at race pace followed by 0.25 mi recovery
- 0.75 mi at race pace followed by 0.5 mi recovery
- 0.25 mi at race pace followed by 0.25 mi recovery x2
I've still got a ways to go, but I’m closing the gap🏃♂️💨 #RunWyze #TrainingJourney #ProgressNotPerfection
