@PlayingUs#playingwiththeend19 First time I played the end I only picked up the tape about the other people being immune and sacrificed for nothing, I therefore felt Joel was doing the right thing, I only got the part about Ellie being special by rewatching the end on YT.
@AStrotz@PlayingUs I don't think it's about gender but about duty/character... the doc feels obligated to try to save humanity even if he dies whilst J kills with an egoistic goal in mind and is unwilling to make a sacrifice
@Juliushhh@PlayingUs The monkeys were used for experiments with the virus at the university, so I just assumed they are the best suited animal for experimenting with, therefore the thing about the primates.
Ellie dying in that scene would have been a possible alternative, although very dark ending for me, because in the scene before Joel mentions that you can't escape your past #playingwiththeend19
This chapter feels like a setup for a happy ending: ellies mood brigthens, the beauty of nature is portrayed, and in the dialogue in the picture they talk about being done and going whereever they want. @PlayingUs#playingwiththeend19
This chapter feels a lot longer than previous chapters, more packed with story and twists but I can't really say if it actually took me longer to play it. @PlayingUs#playingwiththeend19
@PlayingUs @LinusNiedermann I am not sure how I feel about the weapon arsenal of Joel, because the rest of the game tries to be as realistic as possible but the capacity of Joels backpack is almost unlimited. I'd too prefer a unlimited blade but just two weapon slots to balance it out.
@DanielW96027919@PlayingUs given the setting(rural America) I think it is save to assume that the cannibals are very religous. The banner is a phrase that referrs to hunger/food. I think religion is used to justify cannibalism. In a similar way islamic terrorist use religion to justify themself.
@a_haefliger@PlayingUs The big difference would be that in case of Ellie you would have to start from zero while in GTA the surviving Characters are already trained and equiped. The setback in TLOU would be bigger
@a_haefliger@PlayingUs It's already very special that the possibility of Joel dying (and therefore disappearing) even exists, because itโs very uncommon for action games and it breaks with the logic of respawning (the game mechanics).
The chapter university illustrates one of the upsides of games as media: exploring the campus yourself is quite interesting but reading about or watching someone opening drawers and collect stuff is only mildly entertaining
@PlayingUs#playingwiththeend19
The "girl-problems" of our time are bizarre to Ellie. This scene not only illustrates the change the apocalypse has brought, but given how political Druckman is, also aimes to criticise our current society. #PlayingWithTheEnd19
I am somewhat dissapointed by the developers that they (compared to everything else) put very little thought in how to rebuild a powerplant. Rebuilding a powerplant without clearing the debris first that could harm workers seems odd. @PlayingUs#PlayingWithTheEnd19
@PlayingUs I think it is weird that the characters are still operating under the American flag, as I don't think that the current state of civilization grants a reason for a unified nation. #PlayingWithTheEnd19
@viin07487961@PlayingUs If you think about it, going to a dam is one of the most clever things to do in an (pseudo)apocalypse, becasue it has a secure supply of drinkingwater, can generate electricity and lakes/rivers are natural barriers against all kind of enemies.
@LinusNiedermann @DennisThaa@PlayingUs I am on @LinusNiedermann 's side here, it feels more like it is just still to hurtful for J to think about the death of his daughter.
