@Mandathebelle My son was 9. We moved & needed a new dr.. The first dr barely acknowledged him. The second one spoke directly to him and asked what he wanted/ needed (ie did he need any specialist referrals). My son looked to me for answers… but we went with dr #2 for obvious reasons!
@sashaperigo What I want to know is WHY should you keep quiet? You didn’t do wrong and you have the right to speak up. It’s that whole “ poor rapist; she’s ruining his life” thing AGAIN. No. His decision to rape and the fallout from that is (hopefully) ruining his life.
@lorihensler@GHMansfield My son, who’s now in his 20’s, used to love saying things to me in public (just for the amusement of watching the horrified reactions) like “how could you say that to your poor crippled child?” when I’d tell him “no” about something. The reactions cracked him up to no end!😂
@BobsonDugnutt29 @MarriageKids@GHMansfield Exactly. It is NEVER up to people without disabilities to decide what language is okay to use...much less to tell disabled people that they should or shouldn’t refer to themselves as (whatever terms the disabled people choose to use).
@andreareimer Andrew Wilkinson didn’t just idly stand by, which would have been bad enough as the BC Liberal party “leader “... he participated. His laughter made him an equal participant.
@Wilkinson4BC “it was appropriate for her to apologize”? That’s the best you’ve got? You don’t get it. What would be appropriate would be for all who were encouraging @jthornthwaite to also apologize... and to resign. You are NO leader, regardless of any title you may hold.
@jthornthwaite Too little, too late. You and your colleagues... including your party leader, are disgusting. That you are apologizing now that people have called you on it speaks only to your desire to get votes... your character already spoke for itself.
Wrong that I have to remind my 22 yr old son that the reason he has to excel instead of just do well is that society as a whole still views people with disabilities as less capable, so he has to be excellent just to be seen as ok. #endableism
@Goldnsilica@GHMansfield@RichardColman84 Are you serious? They asked if he needed help, and then ignored him when he said, “No, thanks”. Insisting on “helping” after that is no longer about helping, it’s about thinking that your desire to do something to someone you view as less capable supersedes their right to say no.
@GHMansfield I’ve been on the receiving end of stupid jokes (neurological disorder that affects my voice). It never ceases to amaze me how people feel entitled to make personal comments/ jokes to or about a total stranger...and get offended that you don’t laugh along. Seriously just F off.
So schools are perfectly safe according to @DrBonnieHenry... even thought we all know that children can be carriers of Covid AND don’t always cover when they sneeze and cough. I guess that thinking is where her “This is the ideal classroom” commercial comes from..
