You truly have no idea how much this milestone means to me.

I started my @YouTube channel 5 years ago during COVID. I was stuck at home, bored out of my mind. I had just gotten my OSCP and was blogging Hack The Box writeups, but I wanted to do something more focused on application security.

That’s when I discovered the @PortSwigger Web Security Academy. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the Web Application Hacker’s Handbook, so when I found out the academy was led by the same author, I signed up immediately. It quickly became one of my favourite resources for web app pentesting.

But I noticed it was missing one thing: videos that walk through the challenges step by step.

So I started making them… mostly for myself, for my own growth, and because I genuinely enjoy teaching.

I never imagined anyone would watch. But slowly, people started following, sharing, and even tagging PortSwigger. Eventually, my videos were integrated into their platform. Since then, I’ve uploaded 184 videos and the channel has grown to over 4 million views. That still feels surreal.

What really puts everything into perspective is when I attend conferences around the world and someone stops me to say my videos helped them land their first job, solve a CTF challenge, or even get promoted. Knowing I played even a small role in someone’s journey is the most rewarding part of all of this. It’s the reason I kept going, even when it meant recording these videos late at night after I'm done with my real job. If you check the timestamps on some of the videos, you'll see some of them say 1 AM, 2AM and even 4AM 😅

I know I haven’t posted much this past year since moving to Qatar because life has been busy but I’m excited to get back to it soon. Big things are coming ❤️

Exactly two years ago, the University of Ottawa suspended me from my medical residency training in public health because of social media posts in support of Palestinian human rights. They framed my social media posts as “unprofessional”. The irony being that I studied the impacts of settler colonialism on health in Palestine during my public health training. They messed with the wrong person.

They later reinstated me, without any apology, so I left their racist institution to put my time and energy to places and people who actually deserve it. It’s been a year since I filed a human rights complaint against the university, and they continue to try to dismiss the case with frivolous motions with factual inaccuracies, but the court seems to acknowledge the value in hearing the case. It is blatant discrimination on basis of anti-Palestinian racism. I’m taking them (and the faculty member who doxxed me) to a provincial human rights tribunal to seek accountability and justice.

To anyone else who is facing similar forms of repression for solidarity with Palestine - remember you are on the right side of history. To stand against genocide is the most decent and moral position to take. To oppose genocide as a healthcare worker is the most professional position to take. Keep your head held high. The institutions will come around when there is no political or economic cost to oppose genocide. Until then, we will keep persisting and pushing back against bullies and racist institutions. Free Palestine, from the river to the sea.
