Let’s stop pretending this is a harmless career with no after-effects.
You spend your prime years turning intimacy into consumption, desire into performance, and discipline into dopamine, then you expect family life to magically work?
Energy is not infinite.
What you repeatedly waste on the screen is energy you no longer have for commitment, patience, restraint, and presence, the very currencies marriage and parenting demand.
Show me the long list of retired porn stars who went on to quietly build stable homes, raise balanced children, and earn unmocked respect in society. The silence is loud.
Shame, public memory, digital permanence, these are not imaginary battles. They follow you into every room, every school gate, every relationship.
Choices have consequences.
You don’t rehearse detachment for years and suddenly become good at attachment.
That’s not judgment. That’s reality.
A woman once explained it perfectly.
I am not here to manage you. I am not here to monitor your decisions. I am here as your partner and partners protect what they are creating together. You are free to choose your actions. But I am free to express my boundaries. I will always be clear about what I accept and what I do not. That is not control. That is self respect. And that is how healthy relationships survive.
@jon_d_doe While having money is great.
It can definitely make it harder to see who really loves you for "you" and who loves the lifestyle you provide.
Building a life from scratch together creates a bond that money can’t buy, but even if you’re comfortable, discernment is key.
That’s a hard truth many people don’t like to say out loud.
Envy doesn’t always come from strangers it often grows where comparison is closest. Blood doesn’t cancel insecurity. Love doesn’t erase shame.
When one brother is rising and the other is struggling, silence can become heavy: -Pride stops him from asking.
–Pressure makes him bitter.
– Comparison makes him feel small.
And yes help, when mixed with shame, can feel like humiliation instead of kindness. Not because the giver is bad, but because the receiver is hurting.
That’s why wisdom matters: Help without control.
Support without reminding.
Give without turning it into a scoreboard.
And still protect your own life.
Because some people don’t want your fall…
They just want proof that success is temporary.
Not everyone will clap when you win.
Some will wait quietly for balance to return.
You have a car and you also bought a car for your wife.
Your brother doesn't have a car, neither does his wife.
Your kids go to good schools, and their school fees are paid on time.
Your brother is struggling to pay the school fees of his children.
And you think deep down, your brother is happy with you?
It's not your making that you're better than he is.
But he's your blood brother, & you don't know what his wife tells him in secret.
Every help that you render to them, would be seen more as an entitlement, than gratitude.
No one likes to beg.
If you don't protect what you have, & see your help as kindness, rather than a leverage or debt, don't be surprised if he silently celebrates your downfall.
End.
Africa, you can do better!
