The First People’s of the world
Considered ‘vermin’ to be shot for sport by white settlers in Southern Africa.
Remember the native Americans
Reservation schools to beat the ‘savage’ out of indigenous people.
And a genocide to eradicate their lands for colonization.
Remember slavery of millions of Africans to toil on the cotton farms.

All of it was preceded by the vocabulary of ridicule, demonisation and elimination.
The roots of racism was the official narrative.
Those of color were not human.
And therefore no expectation to be treated by those who had the ‘divine rights’ of whiteness.
And so the language of hate speech was weaponised.

And the politics of hate continue today
Ideology roots us in the shackles
Of a cesspool of vested interests.
Millennia later.
The slave ship has not left our shores.

I was prepared to die for freedom
Facing the guillotiné of repression
That assassinated our identity
Sought to erase our very being
Our identity and consciousness.

I ask you now
The Generation who we have left
In the despair of deferred dreams.
Whom I sat and alongside with in solidarity.
What are you prepared to live for?

I am from a generation that has left us bereft of the blessings of Mother Earth.
Our sword of social justice has been tarnished
Human rights traditions now drenched with the blood of the innocent.
Compromised by the philanthropic industrial complex.

We are profiled statistic today.
Clients of medical colonialism
From cradle to grave.
In a world without color, fragrance and diversity.
Sucked into a realm of a new normal
Greying uniformity and conformity.

Abandon the logframed jargon of development speak
That assassinates the optimism of revolution.
It has incubated a monstrous betrayal.
The iron heel of totalitarianism
That now slaughters the children of freedom
Because our liberators are now ensconced in the bosom of elite betrayal.

We are born for this time
The time to stand in your own truth.
Revolt against the mental chains that alienate us from the magnificent tapestry of life.

Question everyone. Question everything.
That’s the mantra of moksha.
True liberation of our full human potential.

Hear the rumbling in the tenement ghettoes.
People are gathering.
Courage is feeding the rivers of resistance
In a world bloated with exclusion and violence
Answer the call of your ancestors.
Arise dear ones
With fortitude, humility and compassion
The truth will triumph.

And we will transcend this moment of discontent and transformation
To be the Supramental Being
We Are.
