@EddieComeaux I agree! The funds delegated to SROs should be redirected to support our black students and other minority groups. As long as our law enforcement is corrupt, we need to give these students a safe environment without police. Our Black students deserve to feel safe. #racialjustice
Many athletes are underrepresented in majors that are considered difficult because of the hard balance between sports and academics. It's very apparent which option the college prefers. Students should be free to pursue their major of interest! #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Some students depend on athletic scholarships for an education yet the NCAA isn't giving athletes fair treatment when it comes to scholarships. If education was truly the #1 priority, this wouldn't be an issue #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
The NCAA uses amateurism to say that college athletes are students first, but when a student athlete wants to transfer for any reason there's a huge problem. If they're are students first, they should be allowed to transfer without any problems #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@ymart025 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I completely agree, creating an environment where injury isn't stigmatized and seen as weak can definitely change the way we look at and treat concussions! #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Concussions are really serious injuries and should be taken seriously. Many go untreated and student athletes can even develop CTE from it. How can we expect these athletes to be good students if they're not being physically cared for? #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@andrear90835875 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Exactly! Female sports lack the advertisements because the advertisers assume that more people will go to the male games rather than the female games, so there's a huge difference in ticket prices. It's absolutely absurd! #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Title IX ensures equal treatment for both males and females within intercollegiate athletics yet there are still issues within certain sects of athletics. Title IX states gender equality in writing but there's still work to be done in practice. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@jvela030@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree! It's extremely unfair when you think about how a lot of college athletes rely on their athlete status to even attend university. If they don't understand what they're signing, there's nothing they can do. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
It's extremely disheartening to read that these college athletes don't know what they're signing up for in order to participate in college sports, especially when some DEPEND on it in order to even attend school. #Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@ymart025 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Yea! Other students participating in extracurriculars can earn money from their talents? Why not athletes?! #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Other college students with scholarships can use their talents to make money while on campus yet athletes can't? College athletes put time and work towards their sport and they deserve compensation just like any other student on campus. #Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@averg003 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely@helloJuJudy I agree! The forming of unions will definitely give student athletes more of the support they need and boycotting will definitely gain attention from other groups and the NCAA! #Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Amateurism is a big factor in why college athletes are being taken advantage of. This is becoming even more apparent with the COVID shutdowns going on. These athletes aren't statistics and deserve to be better treated. #Ucr150@helloJuJudy @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
