Sharif University siege [Tehran, 2022]

In October 2022, the Islamic Republic turned Sharif University into a site of siege, trapping students on campus and sending security forces into one of Iran’s leading universities during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising. Students were chased into the underground parking structure, where security forces fired pellets, paintballs, and tear gas, while families, alumni, and supporters gathered outside the university demanding that the students be allowed to leave safely.
Long before today’s strike damaged Sharif from the air, the regime had already treated the university as enemy ground.
