You cannot build a stronger country on the ashes of its communities. Listen to my message for the North, and for our country, as we face devastating wildfires:
I live in Northwestern Ontario. Right now, the Boreal forest is burning.
I'm writing this beneath the dark orange plume from the Quetico wildfires.
These are some of the reports coming out as communities fight to survive:
"No fire crews left for new fires."
"We had no warning."
Families are self-evacuating by private boat across lakes because they didn't receive evacuation information. They're fleeing towering flames with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
This is unacceptable in a province as wealthy as Ontario.
I'm calling out Doug Ford. His government has underfunded Ontario's wildfire management capacity by tens of millions of dollars.
@fordnation you want our Ring of Fire, our water, our forests. You want to store nuclear waste in our bedrock and run an oil pipeline through our watersheds.
But you won't work with northern communities. You make decisions for us without us, and then fail to provide the basic public services we PAY FOR and rely on: wildfire protection, health care, education, safe highways and social services.
Northern Ontario deserves better than this feckless leadership.

The energy model of insulin resistance: A unifying theory linking seed oils to metabolic disease and cancer
Here’s the link to the full text.
Let’s make this the most downloaded paper on their website!!
Here’s my summary:
The paper proposes that seed oils, by causing oxidative stress, force cells to change their fueling strategy. The result of that is metabolic disease and cancer.
It works like this:
Oxidative stress suffocates cells. It puts them into a kind of survival mode, and activates genes for bringing sugar into the cell. That's called aerobic glycolysis, which is now understood to be the main mechanism driving cancer!
At the whole-person level, many cells stealing sugar from the bloodstream all at once lower our blood sugar. That causes hypoglycemia, and then you get a flood of stress hormones.
This is immediately practical.
Wonder why you feel hangry? That's why. And yes it means you have insulin resistance. Cancer and insulin resistance share the same root cause. So if you get hangry, you are at higher risk of cancer.
This paper explains why insulin resistance and cancer are rampant among youth. They were tragically born and raised on more processed foods than any previous generation. Seed oils are the worst ingredient in processed foods.
I tried to make the theory airtight. But I appreciate anyone who wants to poke holes.
Writing this paper consumed many hours over the past few months. Keeping me away from terribly important things, like posting on X.

Here’s the revised list of Doug Ford’s ten most costly decisions, ordered by approximate cost:
1. Repeal of Cap-and-Trade Program
• Cost: Approx. $3 billion in lost revenue from carbon credits that supported environmental projects.

Doug Ford has made every crisis worse. In 2018 there were 7,000 people without a family doctor in Peterborough… now that is 32,000 and growing.
New York traffic falls after $9 congestion fee introduced. The early data backs up what New Yorkers saying all week – traffic is down, the streets feel safer, and buses are moving faster. https://t.co/1vu4FvLtqJ
Today, a report revealed that Doug Ford’s plan for a private spa at Ontario Place, and to rip the Science Centre out of Flemingdon Park, will lead to even more traffic chaos on Toronto’s waterfront. If Ford calls a snap election, let’s take a stand and fight for our city.
To put the bike lane debate in Toronto in perspective, more people commute by bike each day in Toronto than the entire population that lives in Barrie, Ontario. Or Kingston. Or Guelph. Or Sudbury.
It's pretty rich that the Province wants to tell us how to get around our own city. If they don't like sitting in traffic when they get here, they should go fix regional transit. That is their mess - and the true culprit for congestion in the city.
Anyone who understands physics knows that cyclists are part of the solution.
