Everyone is trying to claim me for their tribe. There’s no R next to my name, there’s no D next to my name. I’m not part of a political party, because I hate politicians. I’m just Spencer, husband to Heidi, father to Ryker and Gunner, and I’m a pissed off Angeleno who loves my city and is fed up with what corrupt politicians have done to her.
Sometimes I wake up feeling like the character Saul Goodman. Not being good enough to meet the acceptance of some objective qualifier (investor, employer, colleague, etc.) while facing the competitors and factions who were good enough. Scrappiness is the only tool I have left.
@DanielLurie@SFPD We need more of this especially at BART stations. Assess where officers need support and more staffing and also what precinct captains are saying then take that to the BOS. Share your findings live so residents can see what you are trying to fix.
At 1 a.m. last night, I joined SFPD for a ride-along and visited several police districts—Northern, Mission, and Tenderloin. I got a chance to see overnight street conditions firsthand, including Hayes Valley, 6th Street, and the Mission BART Plazas at 16th and 24th Streets. What I saw was clear: we still have more work to do. Addressing these conditions requires all of our city departments working together, through enforcement, street outreach, and street cleaning—so that every neighborhood gets the clean and safe streets it deserves.
While SFPD is short hundreds of officers, the midnight patrol is often the most challenging shift. I want to recognize the officers I met last night at Northern Police Station, and all of those doing the difficult work out in our neighborhoods every day.
California ranks first in population loss, first in gas prices, and dead last in housing affordability.
My party has to own this, fix it, and push back on a federal government that’s making it worse. That’s why I’m running for governor.
Today I find myself wishing that Philip Seymour Hoffman was still with us. Just rewatched Almost Famous and wow what a range that speaks with relatability.
Absolutely agree on suspending CA's gas taxes- there is a reason why Texans still have manageable price hikes while us in the bay area are dealing with massive pump shock!
Some experts say gas prices could go to $7 per gallon. That’s why we need a temporary suspension of our state’s gas taxes, which are the highest in the nation. California leaders say they care about working families. Let’s make them prove it with a temporary suspension of our gas taxes while gas prices remain so high.
Sad to say it but there are no decent nominations for best picture or best actor this year. Watched a few and it's just hard to compare performances of actors in the 80's or 90's to the performances today. Just my view - and yes I know they were always rigged.
@NYCMayor And this New Yorkers is who you voted for- a guy who will support a regime that slaughtered 30,000 of it's own people and gets angry when we put an end to this oppression.
CA governor candidate @MattMahanSJ at @ycombinator right now. He walked the Palisades yesterday. Impressive
A moderate, common sense option for California
More SFPD foot patrols are coming to the BART plazas in the Mission.
We’re adding officers walking between the 16th and 24th Street plazas and deploying a sergeant to manage the plazas and surrounding corridors. We’re also changing the street cleaning schedule and expanding our community ambassador presence to keep this corridor welcoming and well cared for.
The Mission deserves public spaces that reflect the pride of the people who live here—and we’re committed to making that the standard every single day.
Thank you, San Jose! Hundreds of you came out because you believe in what we’ve built together — and you’re ready to help us take it statewide. We’re proving that when government focuses, lives get better. Now it’s time to bring that back to basics leadership to California.

@chamath The only candidate who is actually worth voting for in the gubernatorial election is @MattMahanSJ - Steve Hilton is just a talking head and almost every other candidate on the dem side isn't effective. Yee/Villagrosa would be my 2nd.
