For anyone who doesnβt have TikTok: thereβs a trend at the moment where people are romanticising their lives by editing them like Wes Anderson and itβs honestly so creative and wholesome
π§΅π Here are a few of my favourite ones
@NEUnion - what can parents do to support the strikes? Just found out my daughter's school and class will remain open on the 27th and 2nd - if I kept her off in solidarity would that send any message?
@molcher hey - yes the NE has a regional dialect within BSL, I'm sure I can dig up some research/put you in contact with folk far more knowledgeable than I.
@deafcycling@BSLterplife yeah I was just about to comment with suggesting the use of Section 44 but raise the issue about not being covered by the Employment Rights Act. Though, I'm sure you're aware, your union would support you if you felt you were at "risk of serious and imminent danger" π
Let me break down for you the current rail dispute between the @RMTUnion and Network Rail and the 14 other train operating companies.
The following tweets will contain information that the media and the politicians are conveniently not telling you.
Have a read. A THREAD! π§΅
Right folks, we have been let down by an agency and despite 50+ individual calls & emails not able to source available #BSL interpreters for a 19th Nov event in Norwich, it is now URGENT, we will pay fee + travel from ANYWHERE in the UK, please RT! DM for details
This week, Chile announced a proposed new constitution written by a democratically elected convention, and it is likely the most legitimate constitution in the world, as it is written boldly in the context of the climate crisis. A π§΅on its inspiring climate provisions.
But just to reiterate - big love to everyone stating their pronouns whatever they may be. If I ever get organised enough to set up an email signature you can bet your ass it'll have She/Them plastered all over it
*Disclaimer* - I'm pro pronoun usage and I get that this isnt an ACTUAL question but... I believe BSL (and potentially other sign languages) doesn't have formalised pronouns within its grammar...
Is there any language in the world that doesn't grammatically require any pronouns? I'm genuinely curious, surely it'd be just linguistic chaos?
You'd have sentences like:
"Hi, [BLANK] Nadine and [BLANK] work in journalism. [BLANK] from Birmingham."
Seriously, ask my lectures on my master's course- I'd get feedback from my essay like "really interesting point Sam, but you need to put a full stop in this paragraph somewhere"
@nickyevansbsl@flutter_bys @VickiLambTweets Wait a minute- nobody has had their voice silenced. This person still has an active Twitter account and still has the ability to set up more Sock Puppet accounts. They chose to stop tweeting under an anon account when it ceased to be anonymous - no silencing.
