An absolutely odd pairing of Raj and Saira Banu in Diwana 1967.
The film starred a mature Raj Kapoor alongside a much younger Saira Banu. The significant age difference between the lead actors was heavily criticized by audiences at the time, which ultimately contributed to the film's failure at the box office despite its stellar music album.
The track is widely remembered for its innocent, romantic charm, quintessential of the Shankar-Jaikishan and Mukesh combination of the 1960s.
Diwana marked a major visual milestone as it was Raj Kapoor’s first full-length color feature film as an actor.
The soundtrack of Diwana was unique because it featured no duets. Out of the 9 total tracks, Mukesh sang six solo numbers, and Sharda performed three solos.

The film opened with a touching tribute to the legendary lyricist Shailendra, who passed away during its production period in December 1966. The tribute message read: "In loving memory of the late Shailendra... a great lyricist, a greater friend and a grand gentleman."

The sound track of Talash 1969, by SD had eight songs .
This album has various kinds of hits, starting from the very romantic 'Palkon Ke Peechhe Se' to the sentimental 'Meri Duniya Hai Maa Tere Aanchal Mein'. It even covers the Indian classical-based number 'Tere Naina Talash Karen' to the sensational cabaret dance by Helen called 'Kar Le Pyar'.
This Lata Rafi duet samples the Romance theme from the Lieutenant Kijé Suite by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev.
SD is truly the master of all.

Directed by O.P.Ralhan with his brother in law Rajendra Kumar and Sharmila Tagore.

While many listeners often mistake the track's energetic yet melodic structure for an R.D. Burman composition, the music was actually composed by a young Bappi Lahiri. Zakhmee served as his breakthrough album in Bollywood, proving his mastery over soft melodies alongside his famous disco tracks.
The track features a unique introduction using the traditional "Jingle Bells" melody.

A classic Bollywood song from the 1960 film Kala Bazar.
Sung by Asha Bhosle, composed by S.D. Burman, and written by Shailendra, the song is highly celebrated for its unique composition and beautiful seaside picturization.
According to legendary musician Manohari Singh, this track marks the very first time a saxophone was played in a Hindi film song.
Initially, Geeta Dutt was the preferred choice to provide the playback vocals for Waheeda Rehman. However, due to personal relationship distress, Geeta Dutt refused to sing directly for Waheeda.
S.D. Burman pivoted by moving Geeta's vocals to a background track ("Rimjhim Ke Taraane Leke Aayi Barsaat") and appointing Asha Bhosle as the primary voice for Waheeda Rehman throughout the film. The track is beautifully crafted around the classical Indian Raga Kafi. Directed by Vijay Anand.

Here is another true Gem "Ae mere dile nadaan tu gham se na ghabraana" from the film "Tower House" (1962).

This song is different from the usual songs. It may look like a sad song, because it contains words like “gham”, Zakhm” etc, and also because it is sung in a slow tempo, like sad songs. But in reality, this song is one where the lady puts up a brave face and resolves to fight on, despite facing heavy odds in life.

One of the great songs of early 1960s, it has got more popular with time among discerning audience. Of course, it was not all that popular among ordinary listeners during its days. This song never made it to Binaca geetmala finals. Whenever I come across good philosophical songs like this, I almost second guess that such songs may not have done well at the popularity contests like Binaca geetmala.

Ravi was one of those music directors who would give his best however rubbish the movie itself may be. And now, no one recalls this movie, but the song is regarded as a classic by everyone. And the lyrics were penned by that lesser known lyricist Asad Bhopali, who was so underestimated during his days that he got much fewer assignments that he deserved. Just go through the lyrics. One may not be fully able to understand what he is trying to say, but one can realise that it is some high philosophical poetry.

Sung by Lata Mangeshkar this song conveys a profound message about facing life's struggles. The song serves as a means of comforting a broken heart and inspiring it to not succumb to circumstances. It can be seen as a symbol of the inner courage and bravery of the heroine, who resolves to move forward in life despite the overwhelming external challenges. Kishore Kumar was such a delightful actor as he was as a singer.
Pehli jhalak 1955 was one of the umpteen films that he did with Vyjayanthimala.

Directed by M.V. Raman.
While Vyjayanthimala gained massive critical acclaim in 1955 for her role as Chandramukhi in Devdas, Pehli Jhalak was one of her comedy releases that year that underperformed at the commercial box office.
However, it remains remembered by classic cinema lovers for its catchy music by C. Ramchandra and the comedic pairing of Kishore Kumar and Vyjayanthimala.

This was the ultimate Bhikari song of 1977 from the movie Minoo.
Sung by Manna Dey and Antara Chowdhury , music director Salil Chowdhury's daughter, with lyrics by Yogesh.
Salil Chowdhury originally composed this tune earlier for a Malayalam film song titled "Ivide Kattinu Sugandham".
The melody was also kept or considered for the classic Hindi film Chhoti Si Baat (1975) before ultimately being used for Minoo.
The movie had very popular songs by Antara. Song picturised on Baby Moon moon and anwar Hussain.

Jaya bhadhuri executing intricate dance movements uncomfortably in the 1972 Manoj Kumar movie Shor. The highlight of the song is the energetic rendition of the song by Lataji. Absolutely awesome.Full of masti and energy, and playful.

Despite her central role in the movie and songs, Jaya Bachchan reportedly had a clash with Manoj Kumar during production. She openly called him a bully and critiqued his patriotic "Bharat" onscreen persona as a mere show.

I simply love this combination of Dev and Kishore in this song. Look at Dev's twinkling eyes matched by Kishore 's masti. Both are so expressive that it leaves Hema stumped. Chhupa Rustam directed by Vijay Anand released in 1973.
S D. Burman held the role of music director, collaborating with associate composer Meera Dev Burman and working alongside lyricists Neeraj for four songs and Vijay Anand for three songs.
Yes Vijay Anand was a lyricist too.
This track is a comedic twist on S.D. Burman's 1940 non-film composition, "Dheere Se Jaana Bagiyan Mein Re Bhanwra".

S. H. Bihari penned the lyrics for this Mahendra Kapoor song picturised on Biswajeet and Sharmila.
O.P. Nayyar was known for using Rafi as his primary male voice for romantic numbers. However, during a period of estrangement with Rafi, Nayyar chose Mahendra Kapoor for this track, who delivered a stellar performance capturing the emotional depth of the composition.

In Khayyam Saheb’s memory

Whenever I think of Khayyam, I think of music composed and steeped in tehzeeb. Gentle melodies that carry the civility of an era when ghazals were a way of life.

His standout compositions are difficult to choose, but whenever I open my Khayyam playlist, the first honour invariably goes to a Majrooh Sultanpuri–Khayyam gem: The song belongs to Khayyam.

Thahriye Hosh Mein Aa Loon To Chale Jaiyega….

Kab tak rahiyega door ki chahat ban ke, dil mein aa jaiye iqraar-e-mohabbat ban ke…

That little “ga” at the end of chale jaiyega infuses the line with old world gentility. It isn’t just the gentle manner. It forms the core of the song.

And then there’s Suman Kalyanpur. Her ooh-hoon, a note suspended at the junction between a yes and no, love trying to span the distance between the heart and the mind.
