My position is that gender dysphoria is a real, painful condition and that for some adults, the only way they may feel able to resolve that inner conflict is transition. If that’s the road they choose I wish them long life and happiness and I would vigorously oppose any discrimination against them when it comes to employment, housing or voting rights.
I do not believe children have the capacity to consent to treatments that may leave them infertile and, in some cases, anorgasmic. Multiple studies have shown that gender dysphoria in childhood and adolescence is not uncommon, for gay kids particularly, but it also occurs in, for example, straight girls who hate the idea of becoming women and sometimes, tragically, in children who’ve been abused. The available evidence shows that in the majority of cases, gender dysphoria resolves after the person has gone through adolescence. I am strongly opposed to the experimental treatment of blocking puberty in dysphoric children. I believe trans activists have behaved hugely unethically and irresponsibly in pretending that there is good evidence that these treatments are beneficial (there isn’t), that puberty blockers are completely reversible (there is a mounting body of evidence to suggest they aren’t) or that children are likely to kill themselves if denied blockers (there is no evidence to support this and suicide prevention charities warn against making such statements, due to the very real danger of suicide contagion.)
Of course, not all trans-identified people are dysphoric. Erotic transvestism, also known as autogynephilia, (getting a sexual thrill out of dressing as/pretending to be a woman) has been around for a very long time. I believe lesbians are entitled to exclude straight, cross-dressing men from their dating pools without being accused of bigotry and worse (same goes for gay men with trans-identified women). It’s profoundly homophobic to attack gay people for being same-sex attracted.
I don’t believe anyone, adult or child, is ‘born in the wrong body.’ That is an unfalsifiable, quasi-religious belief. A person may *feel* as if they’re in the wrong body, but humans cannot literally change sex. However they identify, men don’t belong in the single-sex spaces for which women fought so hard.
@RandomU75575@DemzDeliver So you are complaining that it will be easier for the Mass population to get an education or further training in order to be more employable? An educated population is a better population. This is what tax money should be used for.
Been here before. Had a lovely conversation about how the universe and a guy were one so he could hear all the music. He decided to take his meds because I helped him realize he couldn’t focus enough to write any of the music down so he couldn’t share the universe properly.
When my friend started experiencing psychosis ppl got mad at me for meeting her where she was at in reality bc I was “feeding her delusions”
Bro we’re chatting with the trees calmly. She started to get upset at the thunderstorm that rolled in, saying Zeus was angry with her. I pointed at the sky and said “that’s Thor bro you’re chillin” and she was like oh you right thanks. Idk. Yall just be upsetting vulnerable people instead of actually looking at how they seem to be FEELING. 1/2
@steveonomics My first job after getting my bachelors paid 13.56 an hour in 2015. We got a raise to 16 in 2018. I have a bachelors in human service and was providing case management services to ppl with severe mental illness.

My dad’s parents were the children of immigrants whose weren’t citizens yet. Is my dad now illegal? What about me? I’m not sure my mom’s parents were born after her grandparents became citizens either. Are we all illegal immigrants?
We should tax corporations based on the difference between their CEO’s compensation package and that of the compensation offered to their lowest paid employee if that employee worked full time. Higher ratio equals higher taxes.
@TPostMillennial So basically proved that giving tax subsidies to large corporations doesn’t create jobs and the trickle down effect doesn’t work. Thank you Governor.
@jj_pgh@lady_valor_07 Oh I know it is a shit show. It needs better funding. But your example without the context of his care being awful happens to most people waiting for organs.
@lady_valor_07 I like Medicare for all. Insurance companies can still offer fancy plans but no one is forced to stay in employment they hate to keep insurance and no one has to forgo care because they don’t have insurance. A healthy population is a productive population.
@CharlesA_Cons@omgsidewalks The kiosks happened because those restaurants are chronically understaffed. When in the last decade have you been in a properly staffed fast food restaurant? Franchising enshittified these businesses.
