Strengthening Data for Regional Integration: Day 1 of the IGAD RSDS Coordinator’s Meeting
IGAD has kicked off a 3-day coordination meeting with national coordinators to take stock of the first 5 years of the IGAD Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS)—the region’s first-ever statistical master plan.
The RSDS is building the foundations for credible, harmonised, and timely statistics that close data gaps, strengthen evidence-based decision-making, and drive peace, prosperity, and regional integration.
Dr. MacDonald Obudho, Director-General of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, applauded IGAD for establishing the RSDS Coordinators’ Working Group, calling it “an opportunity for peer learning, harmonisation, and alignment.”
Mr. Charles Ogolla, Head of the IGAD Statistics Unit, on behalf of the Director Dr. @AnthonyAwira, emphasised:
“The challenges facing our region demand decisions rooted in credible and timely data. We cannot afford data gaps or fragmented systems.” 📊
