From Jantar Mantar to Jharkhand, students have been on the streets demanding answers on jobs and exams. Yet Amit Shah speaks only as the Monsoon Session nears its end.
Why did it take protests to get a response?
#WATCH | Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah says, "First of all, terms like 'laapata', 'bhaag gaye' are the kind of language increasingly being heard in India's public and parliamentary life. I have been coming to Parliament regularly since the session began; I sit in my chamber, but since the Opposition is not allowing Parliament to function—in either House—what is one supposed to do? As for the discussion, Kiren Rijiju, our Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, has made it very clear that the government is ready for a full discussion regarding the NEET protests. We asked for a time to be fixed and for the Opposition to be ready. That was their initial demand, and we agreed to it. I, too, have stated that I am ready to answer any question in Parliament, yet they simply do not want the discussion to take place. Now, let the public decide who is running away. Let them submit a letter to the Speaker by 3:00 PM today. We are ready for a discussion on all aspects from 3:00 PM today until 3:00 PM tomorrow. I will sit in the House; I will listen to everyone and respond to every point. The government has nothing to hide. I will even discuss why they did not want the discussion to happen. The NDA government—under Modi ji's leadership is ready to discuss anything; they just need to let Parliament function..."
Students’ futures are at stake across states, yet we’re spending precious political energy debating amendments over singing the national song for 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
Is this really what nationalism should look like?
#vandemataram#janaganamana
The President has assented to the #VandeMataram Amendment, passed without discussion in Parliament, which requires the singing of the National Song in full at the start and ending of any official function, in addition to the National Anthem.
As one who greatly respects both, and can sing the first two stanzas of the former (but not the other four, which were never required till now) as well as the entire anthem, i would like to point to just one practical consideration our zealots appear to have overlooked: human nature.
"Jana Gana Mana" requires audiences to stand respectfully and focus their attention for a reasonable 52 seconds. The National Song in full takes 3 minutes and 10 seconds. Tamil Nadu has just decided that both will be preceded by the State Song in Tamil for another 2 minutes. Do we really expect audiences to stand still and respectfully for six minutes before and after every function, a total of 12 extra minutes? Can respect and patience be legislated?
I fear that the intent of the Bill, to promote greater respect for the National Song , will not be achieved, but its opposite may well be....
Noida's brand-new airport gets waterlogged after rain.
If this was Bengaluru Airport, social media would have declared it a national disaster by now.
Funny how outrage often depends on pincodes, which city is trending and which name generates more traction.
Anna Hazare fasts against anti-corruption coverage was a classic example of how his political affiliations dictated the media narrative . Its about following the BIG BOSS!!!
15 days and counting. Sonam Wangchuk is a man of remarkable grit. While most politicians retreat to cooler climes in summer, here is someone showing what Gandhian-style, peaceful resistance is truly about. You don’t have to agree with everything he says, but for sheer courage and conviction, he deserves a SALUTE! 💪🏻
And an aside: when Anna Hazare fasted, we in the media covered it round the clock. Sonam Wangchuk’s 15-day protest? Barely a mention. Says a lot about what we choose to amplify and how much things have changed since 2011. 🙏
Phew! quite bizzare. But, this time instead of pinning blame, maybe we should concentrate on civic sense maintained by citizens across cities?
#Hyderabad#mosquitomenace#civicapathy
In a unique protest, BRS MLA Devirreddy Sudheer Reddy held a press meet at the Assembly media hall wearing a dress stitched with mosquito net, highlighting the growing mosquito menace in Hyderabad.
He said the situation in the city has become so bad that “the moment you open your mouth in Hyderabad, mosquitoes are flying into it.”
He said Hyderabad residents are now being forced into a situation where they need to “stitch mosquito nets for themselves,” and blamed the Congress government for it.
He demanded that the government provide 10 fogging machines for every division in Hyderabad.
He said the government must take urgent steps to control mosquitoes in Hyderabad, warning that otherwise the city’s brand image could suffer further damage.
BIG: Parliament will be convened for 3 days between April 16 and 18 to pass women’s reservation bill amendments. The dates are just days before Tamil Nadu and West Bengal go to polls. Will opposition agree or insist that Parliament be convened only after elections are over on May 4? Do they have any choice since no one can be seen to be against women’s reservation? Are major decisions timed for narrative building with an eye on polls or to distract attention from more pressing issues like the impact of the West Asia war on the economy? Clearly this decision has been taken without consulting the opposition on suitable dates for all. Makes you wonder: Is Parliament only a NOTICE BOARD? Or are such questions not to be asked? SAB POLITICS HAI!🙏
When you didn't have to shout on tv to be heard. Sarla Maheshwari was a enduring face on Doordarshan, a news reader whose voice was always soothing. Om Shanti🙏🏻
After Yuvraj Mehta, another young life Kamal Dhayani falls to death in an under constructed pit in Delhi's Janakpuri.
Two incidents, similar tragedies and an ignorant system.
Who is to blame for growing apathy over lost lives?
#delhicivicapathy#yuvrajmehta#kamaldhayani
The brutal killing of Aniel Chakwa in Uttarakhand is not just a tragedy—it is a national disgrace. A young man from Tripura, a proud Indian, was racially abused, dehumanized with slurs like “Chinese” and “momo,” and ultimately murdered. This was not an isolated act of violence; it was the culmination of ignorance, prejudice, and a failure of our society to recognize and respect its own diversity.
It is shocking, and deeply shameful, that racism is rising in North India, often cloaked in casual mockery or systemic neglect. The Northeast, with its rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions, is not a distant appendage to the Indian identity; it is central to it. Yet, people from the region are routinely subjected to racial profiling, exclusion, and abuse. This must end.
We must demand justice for Aniel, not only in the courts, but in the conscience of the nation. His death must not be reduced to a statistic or a fleeting headline. It must ignite a movement for education, empathy, and reform. Schools must teach the histories and cultures of all Indian communities. Media must portray Northeast Indians with dignity. And society must unlearn its biases.
Political leaders must speak out. Religious leaders must speak up. Silence is complicity. I call upon those who claim to uphold dharma to remember that Hinduism, at its core, is a tradition of pluralism & inclusion. It is a civilization that has embraced difference for millennia, welcoming tribes, castes, languages, and faiths into its fold. To be Hindu is to honor the sacredness of every human being, regardless of appearance or origin.
Let us mourn Aniel Chakwa not only with words, but with action. Let us build a society where no Indian is made to feel foreign in their own land. #InclusiveIndia
This hooliganism cannot be called a fan moment... Actor Nidhi Agerwal getting mobbed at Hyderabad Mall in the present of security guards escorting her. Zero Management....
Firstly, the Bihar CM pulled down a Muslim woman's 'Niqab' not Hijab as most media people are calling it. The woman wearing it, is a symbol of her religious choice, preference and belief that needs to be respected. This act is utterly disrespectful... #NitishKumar#MuslimWomen
Bengaluru Airport to Introduce New Pick-Up Rules from Dec 8
Bengaluru
Kempegowda International Airport #Bengaluru, will roll out new arrival pick-up measures from December 8 to ease congestion and improve passenger safety.
Under the new system, private cars will get 8 minutes of free access at T1 and T2 pick-up zones. Overstay charges of ₹150 (8–13 minutes) and ₹300 (13–18 minutes) will apply, with vehicles exceeding 18 minutes subject to towing.
Commercial vehicles, including taxis and electric cabs, must use designated parking areas (P4/P3 for T1, P2 for T2), with 10 minutes of complimentary parking.
The initiative, part of the airport’s #BeCabWise campaign, aims to curb unauthorized roadside pick-ups and ensure smoother traffic flow. “Discipline at pick-up zones makes the experience quicker, safer and more convenient,” said Hari Marar, MD & CEO, BIAL.
#BengaluruAirport is the first airport in South India to serve over 41.88 million passengers and holds the prestigious Skytrax 5-Star Rating for Terminal 2 (T2)...

Champions of the World 💙🇮🇳
I’ve seen this dream for over two decades, to watch the Indian women lift that World Cup trophy.
Tonight, that dream finally came true.
From the heartbreak of 2005 to the fight of 2017, every tear, every sacrifice, every young girl who picked up a bat believing we belong here, it all led to this moment.
To the new champions of world cricket, you didn’t just win a trophy, you won every heart that ever beat for Indian women’s cricket. Jai Hind 🇮🇳
Senior journalist and editor of The Telegraph newspaper, Sankarshan Thakur passed away today. He was 63.
We’ve lost a fearless voice in journalism.
His sharp political analysis and unwavering commitment to the truth will be deeply missed.
In this time of sorrow, the Press Club of India stands with his family, friends, and all who feel the weight of this loss.
#RIP #SankarshanThakur
Interesting: PM Modi mentioned former PM Jawaharlal Nehru as many as 14 times in his 100 speech on Op Sindoor, that’s roughly once every seven minutes. Nehru died in 1964, that’s 61 years ago but his shadow still looms! Op Sindoor was May 2025: maybe we need to look more to present and future than rake up the past!🙏
