So proud of our work (@BrianTDo1 and @mvh_lab) exploring how nucleotide metabolism can impact cell fate which is now @Dev_Cell. This was a fascinating and rewarding journey that started in metabolism and led us far afield (plus add in a pandemic and my move @UMich).
Happy to share the first preprint from the lab! We describe how extracellular lipid availability regulates a polyunsaturated fatty acid trafficking pathway in cancer cells that influences ferroptosis sensitivity. Check it out! 👇

Out today @Nature – our analysis of the influences of common nuclear DNA variation on mitochondrial DNA copy number and heteroplasmy across >250,000 people across two biobanks! https://t.co/VjYsSE0BOg
Looking for a crash course in how cellular metabolism and the mammalian cell cycle are connected? Check out this review Franny and I wrote with @mvh_lab! https://t.co/c1E1CSMY0E
Excited to share a big part of my PhD work in preprint! We used scATAC-seq, machine learning, and genetic variation, validated with TF KOs, CRISPR-editing, and TF binding, to define the architecture of the Treg regulatory network

Congratulations Dr. Kiera Sapp @ksapp17 on defending her PhD thesis "The Influence of Cellular Redox State on Mitosis"! Beautiful science and outstanding talk. We are so excited to see what bright things lay ahead for you (like winning first place in trivia)!
Pleased to share our lab’s first primary research manuscript is now online @eLife.
If you happened to read the @biorxivpreprint version (posted one year ago today!), some of the additional findings are described below:

Excited to share our group’s work on chemically modifying FeMo-co. Here we report our strategy to selectively enrich one of its seven Fe sites with 57Fe for mechanistic studies of the Mo nitrogenase. Big thanks to Dmitriy, Brian, Dan, and @srisantitham.

I’m excited to share a new #cancer#metabolism preprint where we explore nutrient transport in cells and tumors in CRISPRi/a screens.

Our question:
How do small molecules like nutrients and drugs get in and out of cells?

A tour de force by @chidley_chris - mapped transport mechanisms for every amino acid that cells care about in culture, did rigorous import/export rate measurements, and figured out which actually matter in a physiological env. Really cool surprises – serotonin blocks ferroptosis!
Congrats to Mark Sullivan (not on twitter)!! Super cool new metabolism study identifying microenvironment-induced synthetic lethalities that can be targeted to treat antibiotic resistant bacterial infections!
Through curiosity, collaboration, and mentorship, @mvh_lab MSRP-Bio student Alejandra Rosario is working toward a deeper understanding of glioblastoma metabolism and more effective cancer therapies.
