@misszoot A couple years ago I had a bad stomach bug and lost about ten pounds. My teenage son tried to compliment me and we had a whole talk about this. One of my biggest mom-of-boys job is trying to explain to them what women go through.
@DCSamTeaches I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Most people I talk to are shocked that I was teaching for 15 years before taking another position. I think that time is necessary.
@AmberBrownWV I got the Pfizer (second dose next week) and had the racing heartbeat, extreme soreness and hot/cold flashes. Like you said, grateful but yikes.
On behalf of Black boys in grades K-3: Teach me how to read & write well. Use rich vocabulary. Read great fiction & nonfiction. Enrich my language. Let me write. Give me explicit spelling instruction. Don't worry about my energy. I hear you. I want a great experience. Please!
DC is more than Capitol Hill and the White House. It’s a place where people live. It’s Piscataway land, it’s Chocolate City (forever), home of go-go and mambo sauce, Salvadoran food and Little Ethiopia. It’s DC residents and workers who are bearing the burden of this moment.

The @FBI is seeking information that will assist in identifying individuals who are actively instigating violence in Washington, DC. The FBI is accepting tips and digital media depicting rioting and violence in the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021: https://t.co/wLOL0Ipx2I
Hundreds of thousands of DC residents had to endure a coup in their backyard today, go into curfew at 6pm, and fear for their personal safety. None of them have any representation in Congress.
@bellahappyfeet I love this, the best learning comes from mistakes. I also try to insulate myself and mask it as “being prepared.” And catch myself analyzing/rehearsing things endlessly in my mind. Lately been asking myself-What are you constantly planning for?
So much progress in our country is blocked by the United States Senate.
We need more regular people there who know the pain of poverty, see the humanity of people from the struggle, prioritize families, and urgently fight against structural racism.
