I am proud to work in agriculture.
Higher yields saved land.
Higher yields fed billions.
How? Science.
→ Better seeds.
→ Better fertilisers.
→ Better farming techniques.
People who say “go back to nature” actually want “go back to hunger”.
No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.
Trump berates Zelensky, the leader of a democratic country courageously fighting Russian imperialism, while he allies himself with Putin, a dictator who started the bloodiest European war in 80 years.
Sorry, President Trump. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism.
Dear Volodymyr @zelenskyyua, we stand with #Ukraine in good and in testing times. We must never confuse aggressor and victim in this terrible war. (FM)
I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US.
🌱 Soil is much more than just dirt beneath our feet.
It is a living and breathing ecosystem that supports agriculture, biodiversity, water cycles and even our climate.

Excellent progress! Losses of reactive forms of nitrogen from Canadian cropland decreased from 20% to 13% of total N inputs from 2001 to 2016--while crop nitrogen removal increased very substantially, even ignoring the drought years 2001 and 2002. https://t.co/pwchrD7rWy
The 2024 Brian Chambers award is now open for entries - for early career researchers in crop nutrition all around the world, and not just in universities. Now in its 10th year, entry involves just a 1 page form, + a poster for finalists. Info & entry form: https://t.co/aWXGlUmQ36
A lot of N going on as MAP/DAP in the fall months in the Corn Belt, with very high loss risk. Example: if half of Illinois acres going into corn receive 200 lb DAP/ac, that is 198 million lb N, which is +11% than the state's nitrate-N reduction target. We need TSP.

@FertiliserSoc @PowlsonDavid I’m honoured to be asked, but this work was focused on North America, and I don’t really specialize that much in sulphur. I’d suggest asking Ron Olson with TSI for webinar suggestions.
