Yes. What they believe is that LW radiation penetrated a mm layer in the ocean and causes warming. This is virtually impossible. This is a matter of contention, one we can't measure or observe.
If you think about it, SW radiation (sunlight) penetrates into the ocean and does all the warming.
It's improbable that this added energy is added to oceans in any meaningful way.
@Faktantarkast10 The emission is in all directions, not just downward.
The geometry and math and saturation says every emission loses about 1/3 of the energy to space at nearly the speed of light.
It's about the same as having an electrical ground. Each transfer is at near speed of light.
@Faktantarkast10 Low level clouds over oceans reflect short wave radiation to space, they can also reflect heat to the surface. If the there are less clouds, more short wave radiation is absorbed by the oceans. The feed back is evaporation, convection and so on.
@Faktantarkast10 It would be like expecting a net to hold water.
The heat transfers are so fast with CO2 that it has no meaning when it comes to climate.
@Faktantarkast10 Clouds effect heat flux in both ways. But CO2 by itself can't slow down the escape of heat. That would be ridiculous. It simply can't hold heat.
@Faktantarkast10 With the exception of Idiots, one should be able to realize that the molecular physics of CO2 precludes the notion that CO2 holds energy (having no thermal density). And thus we have feedbacks.
The question is whether or not feedbacks are positive or negative.
Capitalism has a win condition. Socialism does not.
Here's why, explained so simply a 10-year-old could get it.
It starts with a book written in 1944 by an Austrian economist named Friedrich Hayek: The Road to Serfdom.
@anika_climate@1MikeFairclough I began this journey disproving skeptics, and when the science agreed, I realized I was wrong.
It was at that moment, I realized I how arrogant I had become.
@Ceist8@Tamara519808@bomac_macbo @alangnixon @Diver_Flemming@Kenneth72712993 Like all 5th graders they describe the climate as a greenhouse.
Any first year student should know should know the greenhouse explanation is technically incorrect & indeed does violate the laws of thermodynamics!
Technically speaking it's called the Enhanced Greenhouse Effect.
