When selecting a lab, prioritize mentoring. A good mentor will invest in your success & will be committed to provide you with the space/resources/training/network for you to thrive. Find the lab that will make you feel part of it.
What an incredible honor for our @UTSWNews community to welcome Professor and @HHMINEWS Investigator Dr. Harmit S. Malik. Dr. Malik's fascinating, insightful, and thought-provoking talk sparked immense interest among the participants while inspiring many questions. @UTSW_PROVIDES
I had such a great time at my first @AmerSocVirol conference! Made lots of new friends, learned about some really cool science, and got to share my research. Thanks #ASV2023 for the great opportunity!
As #ASV2023 comes to a close, I'd like to congratulate two students in the lab! Emily Rex on her Flash-Talk and poster as well as @ScienceyNina on her oral presentation in the Arboviruses section.
Congratulations to Dr. Erika Lutter for serving as the faculty lead on OSU's Beckman Scholar Program (BSP). OSU is one of 14 institutions across the US to be selected to participate in BSP. This program will allow OSU to fund undergraduate research at CAS.

New in JB: P aeruginosa is not E. coli--it loves its tricarboxylates! New work by Underhill and Cabeen identifies several putative transporters for citrate and cis-aconitate. https://t.co/yBeJesWhAI
@ASMicrobiology@JBacteriology
Thrilled that @UlijaszLab hosted my former research mentor, Matt Cabeen @CabeenLab, at Loyola to share our (me and @ScienceyNina's) story about bacterial warfare and its clinical utility. A great time that was topped off with warm Gluhwein at Christkindlmarket! @osumicrobiology
Excited to announce another review from the lab: "How Poxviruses trigger NF-κB signaling, and in turn, how they counter these host responses...".
Great work by Student Emily Rex and Manager Josh Reus, highlighting this complex host-pathogen relationship!

Excited for the first paper from the lab published in @JVirology https://t.co/TNJPmwVVe8 Great team effort co-led by Linley Pierce in the Orchard lab and Meagan Sullender in @baldridge_lab.
This past weekend the lab had an exciting outing to @StompComedy to watch an Improv show staring our very own Josh Reus! It takes a lot of guts to get on stage, and even more so to do it in-front of strangers. Awesome show Josh!!
Don Gammon - Early viral gene expression triggers nuclear accumulation of SUMOylated Spt16 subunits of FACT - a chromatin remodeling pathway that regulates eukaryotic gene transcription. Suggests FACT pathway may be critical for antiviral immunity #EESImmunity
Da Hee did great representing the @GammonLab this afternoon at #ASV2022; presenting her work on A51R, a #poxvirus protein critical for #Vaccinia (#VACV) replication and pathogenes in mice! 🙌 🎉
Excited to be featured on the "Lets Meet The Virologists" podcast, highlighting my work and upcoming presentation at #ASV2022! Check it out - and if you're attending ASV, I hope to meet some of you that listened!!
Thanks Larissa for the opportunity, it was a blast!
A fun lab lunch yesterday to celebrate so many recent accomplishments! Da Hee's Viruses Review & UTSW Travel Award to present her work at the upcoming #ASV2022 - & @Aaron_Embry_ , @ScienceyNina , & Emily Rex all receiving T32 Training grants next year as well. Great job everyone!
First twitter post for the Gammon Lab! Happy to highlight our recent review of Viral Microtubule-Associated Proteins (MAPs) and their interactions with host MT network to facilitate viral replication/immune evasion. Great work by Senior Grad Stud Dahee Seo
