Man I’m proud to be an American and I’m not just saying that because it’s the Fourth of July.

I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to appreciate America more and more. When I was younger, I used to think the Fourth of July was just about partying, fireworks, and barbecue and don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to eat me some barbecue.

But it’s so much bigger than that.

I’m grateful to live in a free country. As much as some people want me to believe I’m oppressed, enslaved, or a victim, I refuse to live with that mindset.

I am not a victim.

I live in a free country, I love this country, and I thank God for America.

Three ideas from our founding documents you NEED to know:

1. “A long train of abuses and usurpations.” What better way to describe 16 years of one-party rule in California? Our freedoms have been usurped by a bossy, bureaucratic government that constantly tells us how to live our lives. As the Declaration of Independence says, it is our right and our duty to throw off such government. And that’s exactly what we’ll do this November!

2. “Checks and balances.” The genius of our Constitution and the reason America has thrived for 250 years. Our system prevents government from going too far in one ideological direction. 3. “Federalism.” The Tenth Amendment reserves powers not delegated to the federal government “to the States respectively, or to the people.” States can serve as “laboratories of democracy,” in the words of Justice Louis Brandeis, pursuing different policy agendas while letting Americans vote with their feet. That’s exactly why families and businesses are FLEEING California for more affordable states. That changes when I’m governor. We’ll pursue positive, practical solutions and lead the way for our nation once again. 🇺🇸
