I shipped a major overhaul to knotend, my grid-based flowchart editor. It’s still keyboard-centric with autolayout, but now you can put nodes anywhere, and move them with option+arrow.

Im not sure what the UX term for this is, maybe closest to Anticipatory Design. A case of extrmely good UX here are PoS where the user flys through multiple screens without even looking at what gets rendered, theyve memorized the placement of buttons etc

TIL the last expression in the head of a for loop in JS is called the “afterthought”.

Which I guess makes sense since you can put whatever you want in there, not just update an index like usual.
