Historic turnout, incredible energy, and an unforgettable two days on the Hill! 💚
C4SSA and ACS’s conference brought together a record-breaking crowd of passionate advocates, policymakers, and community leaders—all energized and united to help rebuild a new, free Syria! A huge thank you to our esteemed guests of honor and every attendee who made this event such a success!
This is just the beginning—many more highlights to come. Stay tuned!
Another step towards a safer, more secure Syria. 🇸🇾 Thank you @USAMBTurkiye and @POTUS for supporting this crucial effort by the Syrian authorities to put an end to Assad’s chemical weapons, which suffocated the men, women, and children of Syria. May this great nation never again witness such brutality.
The discovery and securing of undeclared Assad-era chemical weapons is a major milestone for the new Syria and for international security.
Thanks to the courageous work of Syrian authorities and the @OPCW, with the support of @POTUS and international partners, another step has been taken toward eliminating the brutal legacy of chemical weapons from Syria once and for all.
A safer, sovereign, and accountable Syria is in the interest of the Syrian people — and the world.

Major shifts in Syria 🇸🇾 : a new government reshuffle marks the first since Assad’s fall, the EU has fully restored its cooperation agreement signaling stronger political & economic ties, and the first Syrian-Emirati Investment Forum is driving fresh foreign capital and reconstruction partnerships — together these moves signal a new chapter for Syria’s economic and political reemergence.
Not once since liberation has Syria threatened Israel, despite multiple unjustified attacks and encroachment on its land. Israel cannot continue to misrepresent Syria’s intentions to justify further violations against its sovereignty.
An article in the Israeli newspaper Maariv about President Ahmad al-Shara and Syria included statements from an Israeli official and military sources:
Syria is currently considered an enemy state. There is no peace agreement or mutual recognition between Israel and Syria. Within the Israeli security establishment and the army, they say that the al-Jolani regime is a dangerous one based on an extremist Islamist, jihadist, ideology. At present, it is strengthening its power within Syria and building an army with support and assistance from Turkey, but in the long term all of this could be directed against Israel.
An Israeli military source said: “We do not trust this regime and must view it as a very serious threat.”
A senior military official added: It is not clear what is happening or where Syria is heading. It is trying to build an army and rehabilitate its air defense systems and some of the few remaining helicopters. Some of them attempted to fly this week.
This is more than rebuilding a church. It’s reclaiming Syria’s history, restoring dignity, and protecting the country’s rich religious diversity after years of destruction.
May this be the beginning of true healing for Deir Ezzor and all of Syria. 🇸🇾
For the first time in 15yrs, after years of shelling by #Assad’s regime & occupation by #ISIS, the Church of St Mary in Deir ez Zour was visited by a Christian delegation yesterday — in preparation for its renovation.
A great highlight from our C4SSA conference on May 1, 2024 in Washington DC where we were honored to host Ambassador @IbrahimOlabi as one of the speakers. Two years later, Syria is free! We reflect on the tireless work of the Syrian American community and their allies who advocated for justice and accountability for Syria and never lost faith in the righteous pursuit of freedom— all crucial work that helped push the fight across the finish line.
Another major step toward justice and accountability for the Assad regime’s most notorious war crimes: Major General Adnan Halawa, one of the prominent perpetrators of the 2013 sarin gas attack on Eastern Ghouta, has been captured.

An incredible, historic moment that many believed was impossible. These trials are a fundamental part of #Syria’s transition into a democracy that values human rights and accountability. We celebrate this milestone, marking the beginning of post-Assad justice and healing for our great nation. 🇸🇾
The moment Syria launched its first transitional justice trials in Damascus, with preliminary court sessions opening against Bashar al-Assad and Maher al-Assad in absentia, alongside other defendants over human rights violations.
A second session has been scheduled for May 10, as proceedings expand to include former security and military officials.
We applaud this historic arrest which marks a major step toward accountability and sets a new standard for post-Assad justice.
The residents of Tadamon and Syrians across the diaspora celebrate this moment with a renewed sense of hope for justice and healing.
Amjad Youssef, identified as the main perpetrator of the Tadamon massacre, has been captured and is now in custody after a successful security operation.
Happy Orthodox Easter to all who celebrate!🕯️
May this blessed day fill your heart with peace, strengthen your faith, and bring renewed hope to your family and community.
Honored to welcome Syria’s Foreign Minister @AsaadHShaibani. At a moment when much of the region remains defined by uncertainty, Syria’s story stands apart. President Trump @POTUS recognized early that Syria represented not a problem to be managed but an opportunity to be seized. What is unfolding is not accidental — it is the result of strong leadership, bold regional realignment, event driven diplomacy, and the kind of unconventional approach that is traditionally overlooked.
Historic moment in Damascus: President Zelenskyy’s visit underscores the new era for Syria. As Syria rebuilds, partnerships based on sovereignty, security cooperation, and energy resilience are changing previous decades of Russian influence.
A win for Syria. A win for Ukraine. 🇸🇾🇺🇦
Talks with the President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa @AH_AlSharaa.
We agreed to work together to bring greater security and more opportunities for development to our societies. We discussed the situation in the region and the prospects for changing it for the better. We also went over the circumstances of Russia’s war against Ukraine – I am grateful for the support. There is strong interest in exchanging military and security experience. I appreciate the words of respect for our people.
We also touched on Ukraine’s role as a reliable supplier of food products and discussed joint opportunities to strengthen food security across the region. We understand very well the energy and infrastructure challenges Syria is currently facing. We are ready to work together to expand opportunities for both our countries and their people.
Wishing everyone observing Good Friday a day of reflection and peace. May it be a reminder of the power of faith, sacrifice, and hope — and a prayer for healing and justice for all. 🕊️
In recent weeks, the Syrian government has been cracking down on Hezbollah-linked tunnel networks used to traffic weapons and contraband. This is an important undertaking by Damascus, demonstrating its commitment to regional stability and protecting Syrians from malign forces. https://t.co/Z8J1RAW1MA
Glad to see the implementation of Jan 29 agreement running smoothly and both sides honoring the process. May the Syrian people remain united and collaborative in the pursuit of a brighter future.
The presidential spokesperson responsible for overseeing the implementation of the January 29 agreement with the SDF, Ahmed al-Hilali, said another group of Afrin residents will return from Qamishli on Friday, including 200 families.
Adding that efforts are underway to release detainees held on non criminal charges this week from SDF prisons.
In a productive visit to Berlin, President al-Sharaa and his delegation took major steps to strengthen ties with Germany and highlighted opportunities for future collaboration.
Great to see Syria continue to rebuild partnerships with Europe and elevate its standing on the world stage.
What happened to Kurdish civilians in Aleppo is unacceptable—and so is any attempt to incite strife in response. Those who insult the Syrian flag or target any community share the same goal: division. Syrians must reject this.
Israel’s latest strikes on Syria are a dangerous and destabilizing escalation. False narratives cannot justify violations of Syrian sovereignty or further inflame tensions. We condemn these actions and call for restraint and respect for Syria’s unity and stability.
Remarkable.
#Israel appears to have launched strikes on #Syria overnight based on misinformation -- in which #Druze militia framed (1) unexploded ordnance, (2) criminal arrests, (3) a failed #Druze militia attack & (4) intercepted drug traffickers as a gov't campaign of violence
